Posting a few photos for no particular reason other than I was comparing the 702CB+ iron to others at a store and thought folks might like to see a few photos. I really love the 702CB+, which I only have in the 5 and 6 iron in a combo with the 702CB. I like both but I do see a forgiveness benefit for me with the Plus model. Something about the blade length, top line, sole and medium offset — it seems to really work for me. I like how they swing. Very easy to hit long irons. Solid results on thin or toe misses. I am thinking of adding the 702CB+ 7-P as I wonder what a full set would play like.

They’re not large irons. Very mid-sized, kind of a unique look. Forgiving without a fat sole. The 702CB+ reminds me of the Bridgestone J40 DPC. Comparable to P770 in overall size, but the New Level has a thinner top line and the soles are thinner, more like the P7CB.

The 702CB+ is smaller than the Titleist T200.

Sure thing. I wondered the same thing. The plus is not much bigger than the CB, but yet it seems easier to hit. It has to be something more in the design, such as a lower CG or maybe slightly higher MOI or the tungsten in the toe or the relief on the sole or a little of all of that. What surprised me is the soles are thinner than a lot of similar irons and I like that, especially from the rough. You don’t often see an iron with these dimensions. It is quick through the turf. It does have more offset than the 702CB but I think that does help the Plus get the ball in the air despite the thin soles. It cannot have a very deep CG, the head is not chunky.

It’s a really good looking player’s distance iron and I think a lot or golfers automatically lean toward the standard CB because they think of the CB+ as larger, but it is only 10 percent larger and it is not large compared to competitors. Of the New Level “more forgiving” irons released the past few years, I didn’t like the 902-OS as I thought it played bulky, and for whatever reason I did not hit the 480DB all that well. This new one is different. I hit the 702CB+ great and it has been several months now and I feel like why not get the rest of them?

702CB 7 iron (left), 702CB+ 6 iron (the Plus blade length is slightly longer.

I love/hate seeing this. I have 480DBs from last year and love them. These rave reviews for the 702 series gets me curious. I am waiting for the new utility iron to come out (hopefully soon).

Just received my demo 702 MB demo 7 iron today. Had it built with DG 120 X100, standard length and bent 1 degree weak. Hit it for about a half hour at the range. Off mats which I hate. Went home and hit some off grass in my back yard for a while. Fantastic iron. I couldn't believe how forgiving these are for a blade. They really did a nice job with this 702 line. Liked the demo so much, I pulled the trigger on the rest of the set this evening. I Currently have the 480-TC's in the bag that I purchased earlier this year. Love those as well. Hitting the 7 irons side by side, the only real difference was that I was launching the 480TC higher. Lofts were equal at 34 degrees. New Level is making some great stuff at killer prices.

This is definitely not helping me with my desire to try the 702 even though similar to you I just got 480s last year.

If you order a demo, you might as well plan on buying the entire set. They are really nice. Best part of buying the demo is you save $75 off the bat. New Level also has a 10% off promotion right now. That made it even easier.

Took delivery on the 702CB+ 7-P (already have the 5-6) and they look great. These will go straight in the bag.

One cool detail New Level offers that gets overlooked is the weight spec sticker they include on every head. They are precise in their builds.

Yes! That new utility iron looks nice.

The 702 entire series is so good. The CB+ top line and overall look reminds me very much of the Bridgestone J40 DPC — an iron I loved — with the 702-plus maybe having a slightly shorter blade length. The J40 DPC has kind of a long blade length.

The CB+ short irons look good. They are only a little larger than the CB. I’ll get a chance to play them this weekend. The 5 and 6 iron I’ve been playing have been a pleasant surprise in terms of easy launching longer irons, so I’m expecting the rest of the set to feel very familiar. I am going to keep either the 702 CB or MB in the 9 and PW so I’ll have combo options if I want.

Love the look of the new utility and can't wait to hear some feedback on this thread once people have had some time with it. Weirdly, right now when I try to mess with builds of the new utility the drop downs are not working for shaft type.

Did New Level recently have a price increase across all their products?

I notice that 702cb Head Only appear to have increased significantly.

I did not do head only but I did pre-order the 702CBs before they were released. The price per built club is the same and they’ll give you 10 percent off that.

I'm not convinced you will find better build quality from a manufacturer than NL. Big part of the reason I went with them. Needed a specific swing weight and length. They nailed it to the tenth of a decimal on every club they were identical.

Second that from my experience. It was one of the reasons I bought from them after researching the company. All my lengths, lofts, lies, and swing weights were spot on. The whole NL team is great to work with and know their stuff, build and fitting-wise. I had a chance to visit their shop in Scottsdale for a fitting and would highly recommend.

@dmeeksDC How did the short irons in the + model work out?

They’re excellent. Just what I expected. Definitely can say they are slightly more forgiving than the 702CB. I think the slightly larger face of the CB+ coupled with a top line that is not too thick just works for me. To me these are like a Zxi7 but not as thick a top line as the Srixons. Once again I am noticing the CB+ delivers strong carry. They are not that much different from the CB but yet there are differences in ease of play.

I just ordered the NLU-V2 in 21° and 24°, as replacements for my 4i and 5i spots, after getting feedback from NL about the lofts and length. I’m currently playing the 902 OS (6i) and PD (7i-PW), and had tried a 4H/5H setup for more forgiveness. 57 hooked shots later, I decided to go back to irons, and hopefully the NLU will be the solution- forgiving, hot and less hook-prone than my hybrids.

As to the shafts, I told them about my speed and tendencies, and that I’m in Steelfiber i95 S in the irons, and they recommended the KBS Prototype in 85 S. I went +1/2”, same as woods and hybrids (irons are +3/4”).
Really hope it works out!

Great line. I am in the same camp. If I am hitting a hybrid off a tee, I don’t mind it, but I’d rather hit a fairway wood. If I am hitting a hybrid to a green, I don’t feel good about it and would prefer to hit an iron. But it’s a challenge to find an iron as forgiving as a hybrid.

The 22 degree spot is still up for grabs in my bag. Will eagerly await your report on the latest New Level utility. It looks good, not too cumbersome. I am hoping it is an easy launcher. Just something about aiming an iron, it’s a better way to go if possible.

The KBS shafts usually work well for me. Looks like a nice combo!
