WITB (both member and Tour) has been at the heart of the forums since day 1. Today, it's a major component of our front page content, and there are no shortage of member WITB threads here in the forums.

 

What we'd like to do is standardize the presentation of some member WITBs and member WITB photos so we can feature them on the front page. More to the point: We want to showcase "GolfWRXerABC's" WITB in the same way we do, say, Tiger Woods on the front page. We think that beyond the "seeing your name in lights" factor, it'll create some really cool material for the front page.

 

So, what do we mean by "standardizing" the presentation?

Thanks for the kind comments. I have been playing the blade for a few years and the kids have been keeping me busy and short of practicing. So I switched to the hybrids to boost some confidence. They are pretty easy to hit high and are very forgiving. But the short clubs, such as 8, 9 and PW, are a little tricky to control the height and spin (sometimes way too high and spiny). I may switch back to the regular irons for the 7-P, but they are fun to mess with

This is a fun thread and I really wanted to chime in. I have a number of sets both newer and older, and as a club builder I build all of my clubs from the ground up. Like so many Golfwrxer's, I have a few sets, these are my (current) pride and joy gamers!

Driver ( ok so this is an immediate cop out but I have two I rotate )

1- TaylorMade SIM 8° at standard with ProjectX Even Flow Blue - very low spin and thats why this combo works so well.

2- Mizuno ST200G set to 7° with UST LIN-Q

Fairway Woods

TaylorMade SIM Ti Rocket set to standard with Fuji Motore F1 7X. I also have a SIM Ti 19° 5 Wood that mostly gets used in the "half set"

Titleist 915F 21° ( my Dufner wood ) with Accra TZ5 100g Proto

Irons

Mizuno MP20 MMC 4-PW shafted with True Temper Elevate Tour Stiff flex. Standard lofts and progressive lie angles: standard 4-5, 1° Flat 6-8, 2° Flat 9-PW. Hooked up with BB&F Ferrules

Wedges

Mizuno T20 50°, 54°, 58°, higher bounce models with modified sole grinds to lower leading edge height - think lower bounce wide sole but with more camber. Not a major sole configuration change but enough to make them more playable based on my delivery and general conditions I play in - Built with BB&F Ferrules

jbrunk has arrived at the Weibring Golf Club at Illinois State University. It’s a venue he’s plenty comfortable at, as we well know, having at some time searched every square yard for a lost ball. In his first official stroke-play action since carding a 91 on Wednesday, jbrunk looks to break 80 with an equipment setup that’s the same as what we saw last time he teed it up—from the driver through the bottom of the bag, that is.

At the top of his setup, jbrunk is testing last year’s Epic Flash Sub Zero 3 wood, that he bought on clearance from Callaway Golf Pre-owned, to go with his GBB Epic driver. Both clubs are equipped with the HZRDUS Smoke shafts the GolfWRXer played in his Cobra F9 woods last year.

Regarding the 10.5-degree Epic driver, jbrunk said “it’s a hot mess, I’d trade it for a bag of balls”, but he still needs to do additional testing.

We’ll keep an eye out for the clubs that make the cut when jbrunk tees off on the back nine, jumping ahead of a walking foursome making the turn at 2:15 pm.

It's taken me nearly two years to land on a #witb that feels fairly permanent. I sometimes add a 2H (Apex 19, 18*) when it's really blowing outside as the 5W can lose a little distance off the tee into the breeze.

One of my favorite clubs is the 58* PM Grind. I've never played with a wedge that was so good from dry sand and mid - deep rough. If you haven't tried one you need to demo it. Phil is on to something with these wedges.

The other revelation has been the Tensei Blue AV X flex shafts. I fight a draw that can turn into a low spin hook if my strike heads to the toe. The Tensei Blue is so linear in the way it loads and unloads that I can swing at 110-115mph and have more than enough to make the shaft work. The combo in driver and 3w (which is used 95% as a tee club) has lifted my 'fairways found' stats dramatically!
