Distance - Forged TEC goes slightly further but this is due to stronger lofts. On clubs with similar lofts distances are identical.

Feel - Apex 19 feel is butter soft. Forged TEC feels fine, perhaps a little clicky.

Forgiveness - MOI and MPF ratings are identical for both clubs. Forged TEC may be more confidence inspring inspiring given its longer blade length and thicker topline.

I would personally choose the Apex 19 if limited to these two clubs. Feel is softer. Lofts are more balanced through the set. Suits my eye better at address (shorter blade length, thinner topline). More workable given the dimensions.

The lofts on the Forged TEC would worry me. I have read many reports of gapping issues which is not surprising given the 2* gap between 4 and 5 irons and a 5* gap between shorter irons. I also don't like the branding on the Forged TEC.

The last demo day I went to the Apex pro, Forged Tec black, & p760 were my top 3 choices. Don't sleep on the p760s. If I had to choose I'd probably pick them over the other 2. Has the players look but packs a punch like the forged tecs. The FT blacks are sweet sticks but a little larger profile then I like. For whatever reason I did not care for the updated FT with the injected face. Didn't feel as soft as the Blacks imo. The Apex Pros are nice as well didn't launch like the 760s. Absolutely hated the 790s so I was shocked how much I liked the 760s.

My gamers were Apex 19's. Still have them an love 'em a lot but needed a change given I was playing with stock shafts which are not even close to what I need. I was recently fitted to P790's with DG X100 shafts. I didn't consider the Apex 19's again purely because I wanted something different.

In fitting conditions (off mats or flat grass) my fitter wanted me to go with T100's. However, anyone can hit balls consistently in these conditions and I wanted clubs that would still offer help on the course where conditions are often less than perfect. For this reason I stuck to clubs in this category that offer a little help for less than perfect strikes.

Tried everything you could imagine and the fitting came down the the P790 and T200. T200's span on average 400rpm higher but slightly lower peak height and flatter descent angle. No concerns with stopping either club on greens.

Ultimately chose the P790 as dispersion was better, off centred strikes were rarely punished, feel was more solid. I thought the materials in the cavity of the T200 makes it look poorly finished. At address the T200 did look nicer given the thinner topline but this was the only positive.

I own both the Apex 19's & the Forged Tec 20's. Currently gaming the Apex 19's. Feel & sound is slightly better. Also I like the compactness of the Apex 19's. I've been hitting the Apex 19's pretty well & I don't see any reason to throw the Forged Tec's into the mix right now. I usually switch clubs regularly but am trying to game the same clubs all year. Really have only swapped the putter this year. New drivers, iron etc. just sitting in the garage awaiting it's opportunity. The Forged Tec's are really solid but if I had to choose I would go with the Apex 19's.

Had Apex 19s, now game the FTs. I prefer the FTs because my dispersion was better, by a lot. On the monitor, range, and on the course.

You won’t go wrong with either, but I favor the FTs. As a head, I found them more consistent, and look just as good at address as compared to the Apex 19s.

I think these two are very different. I’d say the Ping i500 is a better comparison to Apex 19 while the Taylor Made P790 is more comparable to the Cobra Forged Tec

if you prefer longer blade length and just a slightly larger profile overall you’ll like P790 or Forged Tec. If you prefer something that looks as close as possible to a real players club but is still powerful and forgiving you’d like Apex or i500 (or Mizzy HMB or new Taylor Made P770).

To me the P790 and Forged Tec look like playing an entire set of driving irons. Awesome for a lot of folks but too big for my eye. T200 maybe fits in between....? I much prefer the smaller profile. Couple of scratch/+ handicap players at my club use the i500 from Ping. One switched to that from the Apex.

Haven't hit the Apex, but here was my take on the Forged Tec. I really liked the way they looked from address. Sound was fine, not pure symphony, but decent. As others have said I had issue with the lofts. I was getting good carry distance from them, but they lacked in height for me, even with a variety of shafts. I choose to stay away from them because I had concerns on how they would play into greens with the mid irons.

Might be different for you, but that was my experience.
