Anyone got a simple Excel Spreadsheet?
Okay, one of my New Years Resolutions is going to be to start keeping in-depth statistics. I know that someone here just keeps it on good 'ol Microsoft Excel. Anyone got a layout that they could post for download? If no one does reply, I will be more than glad to make one on my own. But, given the choice, I'll take one that's pre-made :busted2:. I would also love to know what stats you think is reasonable to keep. I plan on making my own scorecards and printing them out so that it makes it a little easier. I'm going to pick up some cardstock type paper tomorrow probably

Anyone help me out?

This is what it looks like, I basically cop and paste the same round underneath this one and then change the round stats...it's very easy to use.

I think you would benefit more from going here = www.golfq.com . They have a lot more options then that excel sheet and it calculates all of it for you + you can find any course that your playing at on there and just print out a specialized scorecard.

O, and the best of all is that it's free.

I am not sure why you want to reinvent the wheel here. As an OS X user there are a couple of VERY good shareware apps (scorecard, GolfExpress) that do an amazing job of stat tracking and printing score cards for recording the necessary data throughout your round (FIR, GIR, MF, Putts, FPD, SS, etc.).

I have to think there are dozens of apps in the Windoze world that do the same. Check out versiontracker.com and do a search for "golf".

I agree with all advice that gets a golfer to keep his stats.

I was bored when I cooked this up and wound up liking it so I use, but USE something...it will make you a better golfer when you review your rounds.

what about one thats for pc and is free. I would love to create my own scorecards for rounds because my new bag doesn't have a scorecard holder. Like a scorecard I can map out all the stats I would find important.
Wow, thanks for all the responses.

The main reason that I want to do it in Excel is so that I can choose which ones that I keep. I plan on doing a lot of things - including left and right rough misses off the tee.
I encourage you to do it yourself. I have never kept stats before this year beyond the typical (GIR, FWY, PUTTS, SAVES, etc.). At the beginning of the year I asked a buddy I trust for his honest opinion of my game. He sent me a list of things that he thought I did well and some surprising weak points. Turns out that few of these were readily tracked in your typical programs. So, I made up a tailored spread sheet and figured out a way to track these nuanced stats. I didn't go totally overboard and do a "Shot Link" type analysis of each round, but I did keep track of conditions a lot more (wind, rain, heat), what type of contest (practice, fun, money-games, or tournaments), and certain short game stats (from 25-100 yards, for example). Worked for me...had a better year than I expected and improved on all the weaknesses.

Cheers,
Tim
Well, I did go to the websites, but none of them really appealed to me so far. So I've done it in Excel. I've color coded the areas and done averages on my past two rounds. So far, the Excel stuff is going fine. The game, on the other hand..... :busted2:

anyway you could set it up so we can dl your sheet so we I, we can use it.

Okay, looks like it should work. I've reprogrammed the averages so that you must put in this for fairways =(how many fairways hit/14) and for greens you do =(how many greens hit/18). For the MGIR putting, you do =(how many putts you have when you missed the green/# of greens missed). For the putts on GIR stat, you do =(how many putts when you hit the green/# of greens hit). If anyone really wants, I can post screenshots of what you need to enter and how to make scorecards as well. :russian_roulette: Good luck!

Hello Konrad,

I have enjoyed reading your posts, and particularly the one about gym. work.

When one talks 'stats.' with golfers their brains tend to lock onto personal end result stats. For example, fairways hit, putts, final scores etc. But, stats. can be kept on a much wider basis:

When I was an athlete (long before you were born) most of my stats. related to training, rather than race results. I used stats. in order both to record my strength, speed and endurance increases and to try to judge what training was working for me. I now do similarly as a golfer, and stats. recording distances hit (I am a 'Long Driver') are merely the pinnacle of carefully recorded daily hard work.

I also keep European Long Drive stats. on the 'Virtual Golf Society' web site as no-one else appears to have ever previously bothered, except on a superficial basis. I keep them there so that the public can easily access them. I do not have my own golf web site. So, stats, can also be used as a record of the achievements of others. Such are useful for comparison purposes.

Stats. are similar to a personal diary, and what you put in it is entirely for you to decide. I would be surprised if you find any single printed chart which entirely suits, but charts are useful for gleaning ideas.

Very best wishes,

the Viper

why do you have to put 14 in fairways? Wouldn't you put the amount of holes you can hit the fairway on? I would love a scorecard I can print out instead of the scorecards the club provides. Make it easier.

This looks like a great program - I sent them a couple of messages asking if it supports Vista 64. Does anyone have this package and know? They have not responded to my emails and there is no number I can find to call. Thanks
