DJ or BK Does it remind you of a Jack Nicklaus Arnold Palmer

With DJ just winning and with Brooks already recording majors and wins under his belt. Will these two become separated and really have their own camps in terms of golf fans. I myself have always liked DJ's game and he is going to be a force to be reckoned with because of how far he hits the ball. Now Brooks took over for a stretch winning those majors the way he did kinda made me think of how it must of been when Palmer was the guy until Jack Nicklaus came into his own. There was always a love, hate and respect between the two. I for one cant wait to watch this play out and see how many wins and majors these two player end up collecting.

Phil and Tiger is a good comparison.  

 

Phil has charisma and the people love him.  He played with flair.  Like Arnie.

Tiger was a machine and destroyed the competition.  Like Jack.

You guys do make a good point with Phil and Tiger being a better example. But in today's age of big endorsements and IG, Facebook, Twitter that we end up knowing more about people then we care to, who would you put up there as lovable enough to make mistakes, bring it on the golf course and become the faces that the PGA are looking for? Is there a couple of players that will fill those two big shoes that legends like Arnie and Jack have built.

Palmer transcended the sport and was a recognized spokesman for multiple non-golf companies. You won't see that from DJ or BK. The only way I could see either of them being like him would be if they lit up on the course like Arnie used to.

This is quite a comparison... Arnold Palmer is known throughout the world world even those who don't even play golf. And he and Jack transcended the game. BK and DJ won't even come close to them. Not even close.  And Arnold is a better golfer than DJ ever will be. Jack is just the greatest of all time.

Who would be a better comparison in your view. Other than Tiger and Phil since they have etched their place both on and off the course. Out of the young up and comers. I thought Speith and Thomas was a good one but it seems Jordan is working his way out of his funk. They have the likability as well as dislike that they would be a good tandem to watch moving forward.

None are comparable to Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer. Its too much to ask for any player today. Except for Tiger and Greg Norman back in the early days. It is a different era now.

You would have still been very wrong.  And it's nothing to do with who likes or doesn't who on a superficial level.

 

Seriously, you seem stuck on some recent "trends" and invented rivalries and just don't seem to comprehend the significance in terms of golf history of either Arnold or Jack, let alone, Jack's arrival on the scene and how that played out in the ensuing years.  Mean this in a very constructive and hopeful way - dive into some of the really good books on Jack and Arnie and dive into the good books on Hogan, Snead and Nelson for context.

enlighten me because I was born during the time of the Jack and Arnie's rivalry so to assume I am going by the recent trends is not quite correct either. So let me ask you who then who would be a good comparison in today's era. Or will there ever be.

Nope, not at all.  If we exclude TW and FIGJAM since they're over 40 and only look at 30 somethings, not sure there's a real comparison.  Looking for 2 US players with a half dozen majors apiece and great media presence with a reputation for charity work in their communities - recognizable to the public at large as the answers to the "name a pro golfer" question.  Jordan had potential but has pretty much crashed out the last few years.  Maybe Rory as the Gary Player counterpart if you want to recreate the "Big 3".
