Koepka OUT of US Open

Breaking News is that Brooks Koepka is OUT of the US Open next week due to injury. (Sky Sports news) That has certainly spread the field. Still a huge test of golf ahead, fairways and greens will win it.

I really like Brooks but can’t be surprised with the style of his game that he is having injury problems.

Very good question, Well imo yes it does stat wise, with him winning the Tour Championship and Fedex Cup last week however US Open rough is brutal like always. length might not win it. Personally I see DJ, Rory and many others contending. Tiger perhaps a outside chance but hopefully he can challenge on Sunday. if he keeps it in play. though not sure. It is trully will be pardon the title Open lol ^_^

So of course the handful of guys who are always in contention at majors will have a chance. But it’s pretty clear Brooks has a different gear when it’s a major. But with the way DJ is playing right now, he’s clearly the guy right? I believe he was perfect from inside 8 feet a few weeks ago.... dude is absolutely dialed... he even said in an interview that he thinks he’s playing the best golf of his life

Agree with you Collin, DJ is so dialed in atm. Best player by far when play resumed. I guess anybody could win it this year, but everyone would see DJ to be the man to beat imo

I wonder if he already got his knee cut on and just hasn't said anything. Or if the last break was just a last ditch effort to see if it would heal without surgery and it failed.

If it’s the left knee, he should be very patient before coming back.

 

TW played through, destroyed his knee more, finally had surgery, then had to retool his whole swing to protect the knee.

 

BK ain’t TW, nowhere near the full compliment of skills, so if his driving is big time impacted, it’s possible he won’t be a top player anymore.

 

But, hopefully, he can get this done right, give it time, and be as close to 100% as possible. But, with a knee, if it’s the knee, it’s never the same or as good, it seems.

To echo @00steven, I am not that surprised he is facing these kinds of problems. 

 

Will be a bummer to not see him in his element but I think with where DJ is at right now he is a strong favorite.

He was going to be a non factor anyway.  You don’t show back up from injury and win a US open from the setup they supposedly have in store.

All very true.  Tiger had touch and finesse to fall back on.  He’s still relying on it today.  I’ve seen no such things from Bruce.  It’s just hulk smash , hulk smash - me make putt.

Hip too.  Geez.  Young guy.  The guys who muscle it so much are asking for trouble.  It seems like DJ rips it but is flexible enough where he does not hurt himself.  Phil still hits bombs but I don't think he has ever been injured.  I think he takes care of himself, lifts weights and probably has a good doctor or two.

Ya, I noticed that. 

 

Also, SS finished T3 at the 1974 PGA Championship at the age of 62. He finished 2 shots behind Jack and 3 behind Trevino. That’s insane. 
 

 

And made the cut at the 1979 PGA with a T42 at the age of 67!

BK tore, to some extent, his patellar tendon.  I suspect that protecting that injury led to a swing tweak and now his hip hurts.  According to WebMD, tendons don't heal themselves, so he has to be looking into surgery.  WebMD is never wrong, everyone knows that.

I saw SS at the old Quad Cities in 1974.  Watched him go through his bag on the range.  He would hit, caddie takes a step, catches the ball on the first bounce, all through the bag.  Damnedest thing to watch.

It is hard to be dominant for a long time, whether it's injuries or families or whatever.  Makes it even more special when someone manages to pull off a long run at the top.

Just amazing rhythm and temp...his swing has to be one of, if not the best swings in modern golf.

Good thing I never posted my swing online...I don't think I'd ever recover...
