How good are you?

Greetings fellow Golfwrx ers, I'd like to do a survey to see to how our little community compares to the general golfing population. Please select your handicap (rounded to the nearest #) And remember, this is for posterity so be honest.

2007 my handi fluctuated between a 5.5 and a 6.7. In the last 10 years I don't think I have been too much lower than a 5.0 and much higher than a 7.5, it all depends on how the short game is going.

the year at a ONE.
For there being more winter weather, then Golf
weather here, i'm not too upset that i'm not any better.

I think what's interesting about this poll is that it shows we have a wide variety of golfers on here, pretty evenly distributed in terms of handicap index from better than scratch all the way to high teens and up.

am i the only guy on here that has been playing less than a year and not shooting in 80s? LOL I am proud of my 30+ handicap as I have lots of room to improve and hope to be in 20 range this time next year. Already dropped it 3 points in past couple months. Only played 12 rounds this year since last June though...so I have some work to do.

i actually dont care I just want to hit more repeatable and accurate shots....if I start shooting in low 90s I would be very very happy....indeed. I have always excelled at sports but this GOLF thing is kicking my a**.

Hi there fellow high handcapper.

You are not the only one, I started back in June and have not really played enough to have a handicap, but I am guessing it is high(over -30, who knows). I hope the lessons are helping, and I will see when the courses re-open here. That will be time to establish my handicap.

I am jealous of the courses you have in the south east.

Finished the year with a 0.0, and a scoring average of 74.3. Kind of makes me wonder and makes me think the handicap formula is a little skewed. In my opinion they should take your 5 best and 5 worst scores to make an average, not your 10 best. This would be more accurate of your ability and not your potential. I could go on and on about why I think the current handicap system is crappy, but I won't as it would be off topic.

I am currently between 10 and 12 playing about once a month or so. I have had stretches in the past couple of years when playing 6 times a month were I was scoring in the low to mid 70s at the end of the stretch. My problem is shaking off the rust. However, personal matters take precedence over my playing (at least for the next 5 or 6 years).

picked up clubs at 44 years of age...and avg round right now is 114 down from 127 just a couple months ago. When I get down in 90s going to buy myself some new clubs to celebrate...maybe Mizuno or Nike...something used or on sale but name brand since my irons are clones now. Good clubs but I got to reward myself somehow.

I started playing regularly at age 40 (been playing almost 2 years now). Such a frustrating game but my game improved after a few lessons and lots of practice. Two years ago I couldn't break 110 but I'm now a 16 handicap. When I broke 100 I rewarded myself with a new set of Ping irons (G2). My goal is to reach single digit handicap by the end of next year.

In High school I was in the 2-3 range but after putting the clubs away for college I have finnaly rededicated myself and purchased new equipment and hope to get my 8 back down to at least 4 or 5 this year.

Been stuck at 9.0 Index...for what seems like forever. Too much shift work , and not enough time to practice/golf for me to improve. Lowest 5.5...would like to get it down to the 6.5 -7.0 area by the end of '08. A little sharper short game (which requires practice), and I don't think those numbers are an unresonable, or unattainable goal.
