I was at 10.8 at the close of this year but I didn't keep up with entering my rounds very well at all, it would have been higher. I was at an 8.9 at the close of 2006 but I'd been playing the same 6100yd. par 71 118 slope track 3-4 times a week. I knew that course like the back of my hand and the greens were slow and easy. Not to mention it was pretty wide open on a lot of holes. This year I played all the toughest public courses and 1 private (my boss is a member) off the back tees mostly. Big difference in scores and the slope and course ratings didn't equalize it. I'm not worried about it though, I'm not an 8.9cap skillwise. When I get back into single digits I want to be a rock solid 9, capable of shooting 85 or better at the hardest course on the planet.

This forum isn't indicative of your average golfer -- and many don't fit anywhere into the average golf population.

It's funny, I play some pretty nice tracks every so often and it's rare that I see people with bags (or the game!) on par with some of the stuff I see in the WITB section.

I started in June of 2005 at the age of 39. Joined a mens club in 2006, first HC was 36+. Started 2007 at 32.5 ended at 23.8 and if we were still posting scores it would be below 20. The fact that I keep making progress increases my obsession with the game. It's still family first priority wise but just barely.

IMO the poll shouldn't stop at 18.

Was a 4 at the end of November, but I have not touched a club in 6 weeks due to the weather and my schedule. Hopefully will start out 08 at about six and keep getting better. Goal is 2 by the end of 08.

I can't chip or putt. Have trouble finding the fairway I'm playing and when I do find the fairway I get the sh**ks. LOL....That's why I'm a 9.

Being a high school coach, my handicap fluctuates when I am in season and only playing one day a week. My GHIN handicap is 1.8, but here is the way it feels to me:

Volleyball season: 5
Basketball season (off season for me): 0
Baseball season: 5
Summer (when I play and practice everyday): +1

How all that equals 1.8 is beyond me. I am sure that the if anyone looked at my scores they would have a good laugh (88, 84, 82, 76, 74, 70, 86, 85, 68, 69, 70)

I'll just say +3. Fluctuated between +2.3 and +4.4 in '07.

However my tournament average for summer and fall collegiate tournaments was 71.6 (about 40 rounds).

Former professional...now getting back into the amateur ranks....

I played in one PGA tour event and I have attempted to qualify for some US Opens and US Amateurs......I can hold my own on the golf course and on the lesson tee....

Have teed it up with Briny Baird, Brett Wetterich, Hiroshi Matsuo, Mike Sposa, and Kevin Johnson........have seen some of the best players in the world play when they were on the GBT, and the tour....impressive stuff...

Would tee it up against almost anyone if their handicap was legit or if they went with no strokes.......have played against some of the best in SO FLA....I don't care what the Handicap is.....if we are playing scratch I have a legitimate chance....stroke play tourneys with full handicaps I could have some troubles...but who doesn't.

Not this year. I am still in limbo with my amateur status, I will get it back in November of 08. So until that time I am sort of on the sidelines...not to mention a little rusty as my return to college and the ensuing studying has not left much time for golf these days.

I would love to play in the tourny one year though as I have heard it is a blast and the match play part really appeals to me.

Maybe in 09......

Never played more than a couple rounds a year till about a year or so ago. Those were mainly "corporate business" rounds. Then I started taking the game seriously and right now my GHIN is a +2.1.....absolutely love this game.

Ended the season with my GHIN index at + 4.0. My low for the year was +4.8 and my high being +2.3.

I don't have a USGA. But I passed my P.A.T. in August (first try!). If I had to guess, I'd say I'm a 3 or so. I shoot mid to high 70s at my work, which is a rating of 72.7 and a slope of 131 from the blues.
