I was thinking, "man, this guy is from Athens, GA, I'm sure he has been around some dippin' before." I don't mind him dipping on camera as long as he didn't have his spit cup sitting there and him spitting into it...that is disgusting. I put him dipping on tv in the same category of baseball players dipping on tv(minus the steroids).

you can watch baseball players for years with dip and chew in their mouth but a golfer does it and all of a sudden it is a sin? LOL Baseball players had it in their mouths spitting in field and during interviews and nobody cared except for the cancer implications for young ball players doing it.....

Thats what I'm saying. Its no different to me, golfer or baseball player. I don't think any less of them. Same with Angel smoking at the U.S. Open this year, hey...more power to him! Lord knows I love my Camel Lights!

How did this thread go from talking about Boo's luggage to Boo's intelligence and smokeless tobacco use? hahaha

Theres a difference between dipping on the course, and getting your picture taken doing it, like in a duval poster that I used to have and love. But to sit there in an interview, which you have volunteered for and known about in advance, I just think it's classless.

I don't think Boo's accent has anything to do with it. There are plenty of guys on tour with southern accents, and no one accuses them of being stupid. I think it has more to do with his inability to answer any type of inquisitive questions with anything other that "I don't know nuttin' 'bout dat." Bubba Watson is from the same area, and no one accuses him of being unintelligent because he is able to answer questions coherently.

I don't have anything against Boo, I'm sure he works very hard at the game, and he's obviously one of the top players in the world and will make more money that most of us ever will. My hat's off to him. But to call him unintelligent is no diffferent than calling Phil Mickelson a lefty. It's not an insult, it's just a statement of fact. And who cares? He's laughing all the way to the bank!

I think Boo actually gets away with a lot because of how he's perceived. If another American player said they didn't know anything about the history of the Ryder Cup, other than they thought "Justin Leonard made a putt or sumthin' ", the press would have ripped him. But when Boo says it, everyone just laughs and says "Isn't that cute?"

And can you imagine if someone like Rory Sabbatini said he was going to play until he made 8 million dollars and then retire? He would get crucified on this site because people would say he was only playing for the money and not the "love of the game". But Boo gets commended by an earlier poster because he set goals.

So I think that while Boo may get picked on for his lack of intelligence, he also gets a free pass from a lot of people when it comes to other issues.

(And again, I don't hate Boo at all. I think he's a character that's good for the game. This is just my opinion of the whole situation. Your opinion may be different.)

Boo is an idiot, and this is just another story that cements that fact. Don't get me wrong, obvisouly he can play golf, but that doesn't mean we should care about the dumb stuff that comes out of his mouth everytime the media gets him to talk on camera. Are you serious??? There seems to be no limit to how much Boo will say to convince the veiwers that he is in fact from the backwoods, and most definitely different from just about everyone else on tour. He seems to take every opportunity he can to try and make himself sound dumber and more backwards than the last time he was on TV. No reason he shouldn't be on tour, just tired of his redneck soapbox.
