SIM TI 3 Wood *tour version* easier to hit off the deck?

Heard some discussion that the smaller head makes it easier.  Thoughts?

Can't answer this until I get to the range (outdoor and heated) and try out my new SIM TI v2 3 wood (spec'd at 16.4º).

I have heard the smaller version has a shallower face then the standard model which in theory would make it a little easier to hit of the ground.

I had a chance to test one a couple months back.  I didn't find it any easier to hit off the deck compared to the retail version.  I did like the smaller head profile.  From trackman numbers, it did launch a degree less and spin was insignificantly less as well off turf.

I think a lot depends on your AofA. if you're more of a sweeper, it will be since its more shallow of a face. Or, if you just like smaller, shallower head shapes like me then it will be!

More of a sweeper with the wood for sure, I love the SIM TI off the tee, but off the deck I shy away

I've hit it and didn't find it easier to hit off the deck.  Same basic performance just a slightly smaller package.

@Cruisin1966 so basically the "small v2" 3 Wood is the same size as the retail offering stock 5 Wood?

I love that it’s 5 wood sized.  I bet it’s much easier off the deck.

Pretty close.  I would say the 3 wood is a little shorter front to back with a face a little deeper (ever so slightly)

Hopefully I'll know soon enough.  The temps have warmed enough (to 32ºF) that I can get to an outdoor heated range to see the flight

Why is the CT so low on these? I have tour issue Aeroburner fairway woods with CT values in the upper 240's.  Being titanium, shouldn't the face speed be similar to drivers? Fairly large step back from even a few years ago. Were these the rejected tour heads?

Although I rarely hit mine off the deck (retail version), I've never had an issue with elevating it either in a round or at the range, I have the 14* closed 1 tick.  Won't say it's the best fairway I've ever played, as I have fond memories of my XHP's before I caved in 2 faces, but it is very good.

I agree although I am considered legally blind.  If it truly is 2.3 degrees open, then I'm salivating.  I play my driver and 3 wood 2-3 degrees open so that bad boy would be right up my alley.

I’m the same way, I had a 2016 tour issue m2 that was 2.5* open and in my opinion still the goat 3wood. Sadly it cracked last year and ever since twist face came out it’s hard to find tour issue heads that have very open faces. 
 

Wish they would just remake the m2 again!

I’m not sure, perhaps the design of twist face limits face angles to an extent or the pros snag up all of the really open models. 
 

I have tried the retail SIM fairway and despite being a higher ball hitting I have trouble with launch off the deck and even contact issues with it. I am very curious as if this v.2 model would help at all...with the down side being a very expensive experiment! I have not hit the SIM Max fairway, those are a lot harder to try with decent shafts since it’s a glued hosel

Got my hands on one the tour issue small head 3woods. Def like the shape and head size of it but still struggle to elevate it off the deck compared to my gamer. So will likely throw it up on the BST.
