UPDATED 2/11/21 Anyone rolling a Kevin Burns?

My KB custom 9306 landed about a month ago.  Since I like a firmer feel with more feedback, I asked for a smooth face which Kevin agree to do.  The feel is just  what I was looking for even if the sound is not as clicky as I thought it would be. The milling is top notch and the putter Works great for me ... I just wish the topline would be a little bit thinner but I'm getting use to it. Overall really happy with the new stick ... It is a keeper.

After not coming on here in at least a year, I unfortunately returned to this thread- what a bunch of beautiful putters!

 

I have a 9314 that has become my standard for how a putter should sound and feel for me. When I had my first child a little over 3 years ago I decided to have a putter milled with his name and birthday from another maker. They made a beautiful putter and were fantastic to work with, but the feel is not what I love. If the 9314 had a flow neck it would be perfect. I found a 9311 which looks almost perfect, but is more than I want to pay for a beat up putter. I just want a putter built to look and feel exactly like mine with a flow neck. I wonder if I can get this kind of finish and very fine face milling...

I'm pretty sure they can do a very light milling for you. That finish could be pretty closely replicated with a bead blast and a quick torch.

Kevin burns is the man. This is the best putter I’ve had in my bag….hands down. I’ve owned Scotty, Bettinardi and other top brands, but nothing compares. The pyramid face design is so smooth and each putt feels very controlled. 
 

Went to his shop in the Bay Area to get custom fit and Kevin took the time to brief me on a proper putting stroke. That combined with a world class custom putter, my putting confidence is at an all time high. I only hit one three putt last round, which is great for me. Sunk 2 birds from deep. I wish I only knew about Kevin Burns years ago.  Highly recommended!

Not sure I've asked before, probably have but since you have a bunch of KB putters is the copper inlay firmer or softer than the Pyramid Grooves?

Should have gotten that on my 9306. Grooves roll well just too soft. 

 

If he ever has the 9307 in 2 piece maybe I'll see if I can get a 9307 milled with fly mill and a 9306 with a copper insert.

I swapped the grip out on mine, had a massive Rosemark 1.52 grip on it, just lost feel on it and it deadened the feel of the face even more, slapped on a GP Green Star Cord with an extra wrap and much, much better now especially on feel side the head isn't so soft to me now. 

 

I still want to get a regular fly mill head from Kevin just in no rush at the moment and kinda still hoping to see the 9307 head.

I put a SS on mine and loving it so far!

Just got this in!!!! Same head and design as my other 9306, but different specs for the SS XL grip I’ve been using!!! Blown away!!

First round with it today, 27 putts with one from off the green. Missed a short slider but that’s my miss, just a yip. I’ve struggled with the yips, and the heavier head and XL SS seem to help with those, really the first yip since I’ve gone left hand low, about 5 rounds. 
 

Couldn’t be happier with the Burns as usual, next I want to try a smooth face, does anyone have a smooth face and can compare it to other faces?

I think after my PLD Fitting I might move on from my current KB and reorder a new one in New specs and layout. 

 

Good thing his work is very reasonable price wise for what you get.

Probably about the best pricing when it comes to boutique putters, especially with tour pedigree and this much years of experience!

His pricing is very good for the quality you get. The customization is slightly less than some, but that is the direction he is moving.

After the initial email, Kevin actually reached out for a call to go over the details of the customization before we finalized everything and confirmed the invoice. Probably would've gotten the putter a week earlier even if I didn't have a hiccup getting them a custom grip for install. The pyramid grooves has a very unique feel to it - somewhere between a milled stainless steel and an insert face - very muted.

 

Incredible value for a customer putter experience.

That's a lot faster than when I did mine a few years back. I've heard cavity options are limited to what you have or did you have his standard like 3-5 options for the cavity and other spots as well? 

 

I'm definitely considering re-ordering another one after selling mine.

I was always looking for a super clean set up but when I spoke with Kevin on the phone it didn't sound like there would be any limitations to what you can do cosmetically - I asked about face stamps/designs, bottom plate stuff, heel/toe bumper stamps, etc. I didn't get a quote beyond what I wanted but I assume it's just a matter of $$$ and additional lead time to do anything more.

 

Kevin mentioned one of the benefits to the new two-piece head design is the significantly shorter delivery time.

Ok cause when I did one a few years ago I got like a PDF with what could be placed on the cavity, sole, face, bumpers, etc. I heard that changed but if that's still an option I may do another putter with him cause of the quality and price. I just wanted the dancing flames in the cavity and something simple on the face of mine not much else. My last one just had the same flame in the cavity and that was it.
