Special delivery today!

 

I came across these last week when I was looking for an updated Steph Curry WITB, and immediately had to track them down!!

 

These Limited Edition grips are a partnership between Steph Curry and Golf Pride, called Underrated, and is represented by the 3-stars “Equity, Access, Opportunity”.

 

Proceeds go to provide access to opportunities in Golf to minorities and underrepresented young people in Golf, and on top of that the grips look phenomenal!!

What’s up Everybody! Picked up something new yesterday to test out for the last few weeks of the season here in the great white North.

 

The Driving Iron/4-iron spot has been one of the toughest to fill over the last couple of years for me, and this is the latest experiment.

 

My current 3-iron performs pretty well, but it feels and looks terrible, Lol.

So hopefully this one can perform as well as feel and look a little better. We’ll see, testing will start tomorrow with a quick Friday afternoon 9!

The initial testing yesterday was good…the ball came off the face hot, but still felt and sounded very good!

 

It’s in the shop now getting adjusted (+1”, 1* Up, and new Midsize grip), but once it’s adjusted it should be really good hopefully!

While we wait for the newest arrival to the bag, I have to mention that these Golf Pride x Underrated/Steph Curry collab grips are my favourite grips I’ve ever owned!

 

Love the feel, love the look, and love that proceeds are donated to a fantastic cause…just an all round homerun!! I’ve always been a Lamkin guy, but Chef Curry has converted me to a Golf Pride guy now! 🙌🏽🙌🏽

TM makes really good stuff for sure…can’t blame you.

 

I’ve just ended up with Srixon/Cleveland, and Callaway/Odyssey being the best equipment for my game, but I’m always open-minded to other OEM’s and whatever will work best in the future.

Pretty good so far my man.

 

I haven’t practiced with it much, just a few swings out on the course. But once it gets dialed in, it should be really good!

 

Nice and soft off the face, long, and forgiving…just needs more reps to get fully dialed with ball position etc.

Here’s the most recent new addition to my bag!

 

I’ve really liked my White Hot OG 7 S this season, but cosmetically it’s pretty plain. This one is definitely much more of a looker, and hopefully the tech in it and new insert mean better performance too…we’ll see!!

Those AI inserts are quite good, I'm not an insert guy but these I don't mind.

Yeah, I’m not sure why, but for whatever reason my favourite putters have all had inserts.

 

Probably the softness off the face. Unfortunately most of the Golf courses out here on the East Coast are closed now, but hopefully I can get at least one round in with the new AI One before everything’s shut down.

What’s up everybody…been a while!

 

I’ve just been mourning the end of the season up here in Canada, and trying to control my Club Ho urges to flip my whole bag and buy everything, Lol.

 

A couple of weeks ago I came across a video where Fred Couples was talking about his reasoning for playing 6 Woods (4 Hybrids), and it definitely hit home for me. Just came across John Daly’s WITB, and he plays 3 Hybrids and 5 Woods.

 

Yes, they’re 20+ years older than me, but they’re 2 of the best players of all time, and I’m definitely not, Lol. So who am I to keep a revolving door of too many Driving Iron and 4-irons to count that I can’t hit consistently?

 

So I’m going to try a more sensible experiment, and I’ve picked up my first ever Hybrid 5 (24*). I also ordered a Hybrid for my son to help him enjoy the game more, because why not give him the gift of the best Hybrid I’ve ever hit?

 

So here’s the new deliveries…Hybrid city, Lol!!

Great idea, I hope it works for you. I've got 4 hybrids that I use, all older ping g30 model, 20, 23, 26 and 30* of loft. I'm so much more confident with the hybrids. I've also been messing around with a 5 and 7 wood in place of the 3 and 4 hybrids. They go the same distance  but fly higher.

Thanks my man! Yeah, I’ve always believed in the idea that you have to play whatever works best for your game.

 

My Rogue ST Max OS Hybrid 4 is the longest standing club in my bag, and has become one of my favourite clubs.

 

So why not add another one at 24* that I’d be able to hit more great shots with, instead of fighting to find a 4-iron that I can hit consistently?

 

Would I drop my 5-iron eventually too…absolutely. But we’ll see how it goes with 2 Hybrids first to start off. Time will tell.

Yup, I’m alive and well, but definitely missing Golf (real Golf).

 

Oh yeah, Cobra hit a Home Run with the DS Adapt line for sure…gorgeous!

 

The line I’m looking forward to seeing/testing the most is the Callaway Elyte line, but the new TM Qi35 lineup looks like it’s gonna be really good too…we’ll see!

I have not dropped the 3 iron or 4 iron yet ( turned 40 this year in August). I did drop the 2 driving iron and went to an Adam’s super hybrid similar to the Callaway uw woods. And I am enjoying that. I have dropped weight in the woods this year playing 60 in the driver 70 in the 3 wood and 80 in the hybrid all are the HZRDUS Smoke Black 6.5 xstiff. I am try to find some 115 gram steel shafts in stiff to go a little lighter in the irons and wedges.

Yeah Brother, as they say; “Father Time Is undefeated”, Lol.

 

I turned 46 in August, but I’m only in Year 4 of playing so I’m still not a super high S.S. guy.

 

You guys that follow my WITB know that I’ve probably tried around 30 Driving Irons/4-irons/3-irons over the last 4 years, so might be time to try something new, Lol.

 

I went lighter in my Irons and wedges this past season also and loved it! I had 105 Stiff in the Irons and 115 in the wedges…so much better than the Project X 6.0 120g shafts I had the previous year that felt like lead pipes.

 

All about self-evaluation and figuring out what works, and what doesn’t work!

The 4 hybrid is a great idea. 4 iron/driving iron is fine on the range with a perfectly flat lie and hitting a bunch in a row. Get to the course and have to hit 4 iron over water or off a sidehill lie or in light rough... sometimes we get fooled into what our realistic capabilities are on course.

 

Are you still enjoying the grips? Hopefully they roll it into the regular line so customers can try a couple.

Yup, exactly right. Has to be a perfect strike to be able to launch a 4-iron/Driving Iron, and unfortunately I don’t hit as many perfect strikes as I would like, Lol.

 

Definitely love the Golf Pride x Underrated grips…they feel, look, and perform fantastic!

 

They actually did have single grips last time I went on their website.

I never adjust anything LOL.....they just look cool! And if i ever need to set my driver at 9.68 degrees and 1.2 degrees closed---im set!
