That's so cool that your course allows dogs...I had to sneak mine in! A little bit embarrassing too as she had a little accident (#2) on the 9th fairway. Thank goodness I always bring her plastic bags...

Thanks, Touch. She's actually 11 years old now so she's probably considered a senior dog. A couple of the pics were taken when she was a puppy...

Mighty Max the 80 lb. Doberman pup tackled me on the stirs and I fell on my elbow. Here is the result. Notice I can't spell elbow. 😅

One year ago today we lost our best boy Adelphi (his picture is on the 2nd page of this post) very suddenly to cancer. I think about him every single day. He was an awesome dog. His loss left a huge hole in our hearts, so we filled it with this knucklehead. He hasn't achieved the awesomeness of Adelphi, but we're working on it. Meet Dibbs.

We had to put Ronin down. Always a hard thing to do. He was 7+ years old and had kidney cancer. We started a few weeks of chemo, and the chemo was working for the most part (blood counts, etc...), but he wasn't eating or doing much of anything to try and stay alive. Like he just gave up. 

 

He was one of the most photogenic dogs we've ever had. To Ronin!

Man, so sorry to hear that. Such a cutie. Looks like a great dog.

 

My family went through it just a little over two years ago with our much beloved Catahoula, Emmet. Liver cancer. Utterly devastating.

 

Just wish you the best man, and I know there's another great dog out there for you. I just wish they lived a little bit longer.

Sorry for your loss. This is the main reason us dog lovers have to consider whether to get another dog because some day you're probably going to have to put your friend down if you love them. It's not easy. It's hard, but it's an act of love.  I have a 6 year old Golden and my wife had two Weiner Dogs until she recently had to say goodbye to one of them. He was old, very cranky and TBH never was fully housebroken so I have to confess I really don't miss him. But my wife grieved over him and that was sad. 

 

This is Scooter (front) when we brought Bailey home. Toby seems to like her more than Scooter does.  I'm pretty sure Toby misses his nap buddy.

Good looking crew right there.  I just don't get people who don't like dogs.  I can't walk past a dog without saying "HI".  As a matter of fact, I don't trust anyone who DOESN'T talk to dogs.

100% agree on this. I have had at least one dog in my life since I was born and I'm old. One of my most favorite assignments when I was a LEO was I was a K9 handler for 4 years. I have 6 children and all but one has dogs. The one who doesn't has 5 cats. Even though he is a successful prosecuting attorney, he is a major disappointment to his mom and I on the pet selection. It's not that I dislike cats, it's just that cats are not dogs. 

 

Here's my partner Hippy from 1983 or so. He's the sable German Shepard. This was at a K9 competition which he won. The other guy has a scary looking Rottweiler who was actually pretty soft compared to Hippy.

Keep in mind that he will remain in your heart for decades.  Sorry for your having to deal with such pain. Many of us know your struggle.
