Sam Snead's feel as well.

3. Turn your body for the final “punch”

It’s only around impact, Snead says, that he feels like he stops making an arm swing and starts using his body to rotate. As you can see, that’s not what’s actually happening — his body is constantly rotating — but nevertheless, that’s his feeling. That the first half of his downswing is a pull with his arms, and the final part of his downswing is a rotation with his body. It’s the “final punch,” as the narrator describes it.

I really like how Dana presents stuff but Dana’s videos are just marketing and sends people into far far more rabbit holes than helps. He doesn’t show the prerequisites..you will never get this to work without taking a lesson from him. He basically does a whole bunch “work” with the student before videoing and then video things people want to hear but 99% of people don’t have the required earlier pieces to make this work. So he gets people trying it on the range and of course you have zero chance of making it work so you do a few different things..give up, join his website, or book a lesson of some sort with him.

I would prefer that he operates more like Chris Mayson. Just show pretty swings and no “hooks”. Let your success bring bring in the students.

From what I saw in the video the student stays closed too long through the whole swing so Dana is trying to get him to open sooner. It all depends on what the student needs.

Love Dana's live lessons. There's always pieces of gold hidden in them if you know what to look for.  What do you guys think of the small lateral movement off the ball he appears to be teaching these days? I prefer the more centered approach.

It’s just for more speed production..as long as you center there’s nothing wrong with it. It’s being actively taught mainstream. The Gasp force plates are changing how the backswing is being taught.  This guy is the hottest coach in. Gfr right now.

Ill give that IG a follow. Looks like there could be some very constructive content. I just thought it was interesting that re-centering is in vogue now. I used to move off the ball a bit and re-centered but there were days where the timing wasn't there and my low point control would suffer. Iteach told me to stay more centered to help with the week to week consistency. My own biases makes me cringe a bit when I see it but I'm sure skilled golfers have no problem making that move on consistent basis.

it definitely depends on the what the student needs. I went to see Dana yesterday while i’m on vacation near long beach.

i’ve been getting steep and getting too over the top. He said i am opening the upper body way too fast in transition/downswing and that my upper and lower are moving at essentially the same speed. He had me make a backswing with a big shoulder turn, drop the arms and wrists (more or less like monte’s cast a) and then try to hit the ball from the inside with my back closed to the target and then ensure my left arm supinates and releases the club. This was an exaggeration drill but i need it because even when i feel like im staying closed (without trying to exaggerate), i tend to spin out.

Shaft too inside( facing right of target ) at first parallel .

You continue to do this until at 9:00 going back , your lead arm is far too much angled and your hands are far too deep( land hand over rear heel).

Yes, Dana mentioned that but that's not what he wants me to focus on first. He gave me some specifics to work on first before addressing the inside takeaway.

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.

Don't worry, i will make it down to Laguna again someday, and you can tell me the same thing too 😂

It was fun to see him give you the same exact drill. I like DD.  He has a much better sense of humor than his videos show.

That's good. It's nice to know he doesn't only teach lateral and turn.
