Jack is Manwe, Bobby Jones is Illuvatar, and Augusta is Arda.

Thank you! I haven't read the Silmarillion in a good few years, though I do have a very well-worn copy around somewhere. I think I am in the minority who enjoyed it as much as or more than LoTR.

 

I keep meaning to have a read of the stuff his son Christopher edited and published, which adds even more background, but at this stage, I probably never will.

I dunno if I would bet on JS winning.  It really depend his driving accuracy off the tee.  Pebble can be penalizing if he's in the wrong spots.  He's been putting well as of late, but that big dawg has been letting him down at times.

my only fear is they will attempt to make it different than its original intent...

Tolkien was a moralist...good and evil were clear...the modern take of moral relativism is an evil in itself imho...and used to justify all manner of depravity

 

tolkien learned well the horrors of evil in the trenches of World War I...

and I hope the new movies and series do not become a cesspool of modern moral relativity abhorrent to Tolkien...

the fact we think so similarly is eerie...and I’m not surprised we also have the same taste in fiction..

 

Jackson [and others] have been shopping a series but, for the reasons u stated, it’s not financially feasible with current technology...

 

as an aside, I hope dune isn’t ruined next year...i would’ve thought 4 movies minimum to tell the tale of Muad’Dib....
