The Stack System

Recommended Posts

I have used Stack System when it first came out and it gave me some gains but I didnt feel faster on the course, just faster and stronger with the Stack tool.  I stuck it out for almost a year and ended up with about 3mph of actual usable swing speed.  After a year away, I recently came back and discovered some magic.  It seems that my body was not strong enough to get faster and all the speed work would not help without increasing core strength and flexibility.  I started Golf Forever and that gave me golf muscles that I was sorely lacking.  The combination of Golf Forever and Stack has been a formidable duo in terms of improving my length on the course.

As it refers to E-speed, ive found my driver swing correlates to swings for air swings only.  My speed the hitting a ball mirrors my 195g Stack speed quite closely.  I have a larger gap 8-9 mph between the driver speed without ball and actually hitting the ball.

13 sessions is nothing. It took me almost seven full programs before I saw real gains that eventually stuck.

I wish I had read this sooner., I had given up but got bored and came back....it took me 6 full programs ( thats a long time ) and some Golf Forever workouts and then the door to speed finally opened for me....I went from a short knocker to a pretty decent length.

Does anyone else find their Stack Driver eSpeed not match up to what their actual driver speed is.

My stack driver eSpeed is 105. My driver speed hitting balls is 96/98.

Right after I do my stack training i hop on to my skytrack and start hitting balls with my driver swinging as fast as i can. and my driver speed is 96/98. The best ball speed I achieved was 142.

Just wondering if that is common. anyone else find this to be the case?

E-speed is normally higher and most try and bridge that gap with more on ball driver swings to remove that mental barrier.

E-Speed would be closest to you just ripping your driver as hard as possible with no ball

I just got mine and did the baseline last night.  My air swings with a driver we consistently 95-96.  My espeed wound up being 87 and my distance potential 238.  Can someone help me understand this?

Probably a little less efficient with the 195g stack off the start. It will take a couple sessions to get acclimated and start to normalize to look closer to your top air swings.

Anyone have tips for setting up the PRGR for use with stack (height above ground, distance to swing in front of it, etc).  I seem to be getting some inconsistent readings between driver swings and the stack and im sure its me not setting it up properly.

At the range I set it on whatever shoes I've taken off and put it a few feet behind the mat. Not scientific, not measuring the distance or building something perfectly level - but I've never had an issue.

I got really weird results (30 mph difference between swings) until I started placing the PRGR unit about 3.5 feet behind my imaginary ball spot and putting it up on the shipping box it came in.  I still get a random bizarre measurement now, but only very rarely.  The thought is it sometimes catches your backswing, hence the strange readings.  Good luck!

Personally I’ve decided to pause it during the season again. The thing I love about Stack - which is encouraging myself to experiment with new techniques to get faster - just doesn’t fit me during the tournament season. It’s actually not even an injury concern thing anymore, I just don’t want to be messing with my swing any more than I already do. I’ll keep it in basement for winter work though, just not going to be a year round thing for me at this point.

Just an update for me.  Started using Stack for speed 5 weeks ago and I've completed 15 sessions.  When I started I found that I lost quite a bit of speed over the winter and due to some lingering shoulder issues.

At around session 10 of the speed foundation program, I had gained about 2-3 mph.  Then session 12 I gained 4 mph.  I was closer back to my old speed.

I then started to watch a video that finally got me to understand the concept of not turning your shoulders and instead tilting them and thru session 15 I'm up to as much as 6 mph faster than my baseline.  I'm going to just keep continuing to use this and continue with the programs prescribed for me.

One of the hidden gems about the speed training program is that it really reinvigorates my competitiveness.  The effort it takes to beat your fastest sets and fastest swings.  It's a different touch to practicing/training that you just don't get from hitting balls.

I have tried the putting app part once.  The problem for me is my club's practice green is small and just not very good.  It's probably at a 3.5 to 5% slope on most putts.

I just finished the Swing Foundation program in 46 days and the Progress Check has me increasing my driver speed by 6 mph from the baseline.  Granted, I lost quite a bit of speed over the winter due to not swinging and re-aggravating an shoulder injury.  My eSpeed actually improved by 9 mph.

Not only has the training helped me gain some speed, but some mechanical changes have really improved my speed as of late as I've finally started to understand the concept of not turning my shoulders but instead just tilting them in the backswing (and downswing).  And I started to work on rotating my lead ankle as such that I plant the lead heel closer to the target in transition.  Up next is the Full Speed Spectrum.  I'm basically back to about the club speed I was usually at (108 mph), but would like to get closer to 115 mph when all is said and done.

Will be happy to start this back up, had a grade one strain of the oblique a month ago which is a hard one to kick. i still feel a couple weeks away from being able to go after one.

How'd the recovery go from this? I pulled my left oblique while pitching in a baseball game last week (6/26) and it just kills me not to be on the course! I got an abdominal wrap, but I'm trying to find anything for exercises or training to expedite the recovery into light golfing and other activities ASAP. I've been doing walking/jogging, pushups/planks, shoulder taps (that starts to work that oblique for sure!), and weighted arm extensions/swings. Anything you found that worked or didn't work?

does anyone else experience bugs with the app? like, rest countdowns disappearing randomly, dictation giving errors and not working.  the app having these features do all the rest stuff and logging automatically was part of the appeal so its a bit of a piss off that its so buggy.  support told me to reinstall the app, but that didnt help and i have a hard time believing these issues are something other than buggy update they pushed out

The bug that I experience me the most is an error something like "error initialising audio system" (on my iPhone and iPad).

When that happens the app no longer accepts verbal speed input and I have to type the speeds in manually.

Just force closing the app and restarting it doesn't solve the issue, the device has to be restarted.

Ok was able to partially solve issue with dictation by going into keyboard in the ipad settings and turn off and turn on dictation again. seemed to solve that mid session and it worked for the rest. the other issue of the rest timer not even showing up went away IF i turned off the option to have the app speak to me, and have the countdown sound. if I turned sound back on, the timer would disappear and it failed to play a sound indicating time for next swing. oh well, id rather have dictation work and see the countdown rather than have no dictation and no countdown.

Heard back from Stack. They mentioned if you have referral credits to cancel the apple annual renewal and it will work with your credits. they do not allow transferring credits to friends or family unfortunately.

How did you apply the referral credit? I canceled the auto-renewal a couple weeks ago but when my subscription ended yesterday I didn’t see any way to renew with one of my credits. I ended up renewing hoping my credit would apply but got charged instead.

once I cancelled the auto renewal I still had access after it expired. You might have to call them to get it credited back or make sure the protocol is the same.

I took quite a long break from the Stack because I had knee surgery and I got into various cardio stuff while rehabbing the knee and didn't get back into the Stack.

I also stopped doing strength training for a while and ended up losing a ridiculous amount of speed / distance. It totally messed with my mind on the course because I was having to take so much extra club and couldn't trust it; halfway through my swing I would think "too much club" and quit on it and still come up short.

I'm now almost three months back into it and most of my speed and distance has returned. The other day I hit a 9 iron into a par four that had become a 4 or 5 iron approach. Speed is still slowly creeping up but Im happy with where I am, any more is icing. Bottom line is the stack works!

Only thing that annoys me to death is I have the PRGR monitor and sometimes instead of just giving one number at the top for swing speed it gives random numbers for ball speed and carry too so three numbers. The top number is always off when this happens so it’s a wasted swing.

anyone else have this issue and how did you fix it if you did? Is there a setting I’m missing in the device ??
