This could also apply to the Wed round for those that want to play vs sit out a day and get ready for RCD.  

You have good golf at your doorstep. There is no need to drive to Ballyliffin. I would stay close to the digs and play the Valley Links or Castlerock on Sunday. I am a sucker for Colt so I would choose the Valley Links. A good option for Wednesday is Castlerock's Bann 9 before setting off to RCD for the night. You could even play both the Bann and Annesley on Wednesday as they are each quick rounds. At least the PM game at Annesley could be optional. However, neither course is a walkover! Both courses have some very cool holes and are cheap.

A nine hole could be a good option.  Take some stress off the legs and check out the views and see the town.

The Bann is a quick 9 good for a half set. I have no idea why the club doesn't advertise it more. 2, 3, 5, 8 and 9 are cracking holes.
