Callaway Apex/Apex Pro Combo - Thoughts??

I am looking to get some new sticks - currently playing Mizzy JPX 900 Forged. Very interested in this combo - but would love some feedback and thoughts.

Success of the combo, gapping, feel between the 2, turf interaction? Any feedback is welcome!

I haven't touched an Apex 21 anything but I have played previous models.

I played the 14s in 5-PW with a Pro AW.

I had the 16s in a 4-AW combo set.

I had the 19s 6-PW

The 16 set was my favorite of the bunch. If you order a designed combo set from Callaway they have the specs of the pro irons (8-AW unless the newer models are different which I don't think they are) made up to match the specs of the standard irons. That should pretty much take care of any of the concerns you might have if you tried to put together a combo set from adjusting specs of irons not designed to be combo'd.

Apex combo 16s are the best of the lot in my opinion and still in my bag. Seamless transition both visually and performance wise. I love the new Apex Pro 21s and if Callaway had made the regular apex the same hollow body design and look of the pros, I would probably be updating. Now not so much, they would be a mixed set vs a combo set which i don't care for visually. I will wait and upgrade in the next version which I hope will be more seamless.

I have them and like them a lot. Changed from the 2019 standard apex. The change I was looking for was in the short irons; standards had too much offset and bounce, and I felt like all I could do was draw them and a hook miss was always a risk ... But the long irons were incredible.

When I saw they made the pros more forgiving and hotter with the hollow body and tungsten design I jumped all over them. I'll say this though, I think to fit in the new DCB model they also made the regular apex's slightly more compact, slightly less offset, and slightly less forgiving than the 2019s. A full set of regulars is more a consideration now. Or if someone wants the high powered long iron they can also consider the standard/DCB combo set. The DCB aren't all that different than the 2019 regulars.

I have the triple play combo with the DCB’s in 4-5, regular apex in 6-9, and Pros in PW-AW. I had the 2019 in regular apex and still have the apex pro 2016 model. I prefer the pro model profiles but really like the triple play setup. Really like the DCBs in the long irons. I haven’t had a 4 iron in the bag in 10-15 years but the DCB is so easy to hit. I agree the regular apex 2021 seems to play a bit more like pros in the older models.
