Played a 4BBB knockout. My partner contributed on 3 of the 15 holes we played. Driving was brilliant. The rest Meh. Would have scraped a 78 or 79 on my own.

Played 9 holes this afternoon. Perfect weather and the course was quiet. Played from just about the back tees. Birdied the first 3 holes. Got to -5 after 6 holes. Was one of those magic afternoons up until that point. Unfortunately dropped 2 shots on the remaining holes due to a poor club selection and two missed putts at close range. Finished -3 in the setting sun. Never thought I would be disappointed in a -3 for 9 holes. Still was lots of fun!

44-39, 83. Could have just as easily been a 78 as an 88. Started +9 through 5. 1 triple, 4 doubles, 5 birdies. 3 three-putts, 7 one putts. Roller coaster round.

The 18th at Gearheart Golf Links is long, but it all came together today and I birdied it. 

 

155 yards out, uphill into the wind for my third shot.

 

 

Haywood MB 5 iron was just right.

Alright, so been a few days. The club championship was played over 54 holes, 36 saturday and 18 sunday.

 

For reference my handicap at the time is about 2~

First round was a scrappy 77 (+6) where no putts dropped, the greens were slower than usual and I struggled to adapt.

 

Second round saturday was .. different. I shot 63 (-8) (personal best by 5 shots), with 17 GiR and almost all fairways. As you can imagine I putted way better, and managed to sneak a few long ones in, but I did hit them pretty close all day.

Third round on sunday 72 (+1), I was still pretty weirded out by that 63, but tried to tap in to that feeling again without much success. Ended 2nd behind a former College D1 player (he shot 64 final round). But I'm over the moon.

Played a scramble I was invited to join. We had the low round with a 59 (-12). And we easily left 3 strokes out on the course. Great group of guys. Got along really well and everyone contributed at one point or another. 

Overall I was pretty happy with my play. Think we used 12 of my tee shots, 10 approaches, and 12 putts. I was definitely the glue, but the other guys pulled off some really clutch shots when they were needed. Looking forward to joining up with them again next year.

46 on 9 with no penalties. First time I've played a single ball through 9 in a while and a low score for this season despite missing left and short every time I pulled driver. 2 pars including on my only GIR, but only one 3-putt.

Well after 3 rounds averaging around 30 putts , which is good for me, I switch out my Sigma Ketsch B to my SC Phantom 5.5. Shouldn’t of. 35 putts with 3 3 putts. My round was 41/42 83 which I will take but my putting left me down. Hit 10 GIR and most fairways today.

A smooth 99 (par 70).  Not much was good today. Hit one great drive, but everything else off the tee was blocked left or sliced right. Greens were sloooooooooooooow and I couldn’t adjust and 3 putted 6 times.  I did hit a couple of good flop shots, but inside 100 was bad overall.  I need to practice and play more often.

Tuesday league I was even par through 7 holes. Finished triple, double to shoot 41. Hit a good drive on my 8th and 9th hole and just landed in bad spots making difficult second shots and I managed to destroy the rest of my round.

85.   Tried putting cross handed.  I think I'm going to stick with that for a while.   I had 0 5's on the front which is kind of strange.  6-4-4-6-6-4-6-4-3.  Played pretty well on the back until 9 which I pulled my 3 wood out of the fairway a mile right into the hazard and ended with a double.

Played a regulation 9 that's pretty short (3,100 yards). Funny thing is, one hole is a 600 yard par 5, lol. Shot 33 (-2). Had two other birdie lip outs from around 15 feet. 

 

Best part was I got to take my 5 year old son along. His 3rd official round, but first with his new set of clubs. I had him start anywhere between 160-100 yards out on each hole. And gave him modified "par" target scores to shoot for. He had 2 "pars". And he hit one driver close to 100 yards. If he could putt or chip consistently, he'd have actually scored pretty well. 

Eager to get back out there with him!

Most frustrating round of the year, 81 and was 1 under through 12. Must’ve got in my head about shooting under par for 18 in a bit. Only second tournament of the season, shall see what happens in the next events.

Shot one of the worst 75's in history. Hit only 7 greens and ballstriking was amazingly sub par but somehow kept it going all the way around... was -2 through 8 though so leaked some on the back nine while holding on (no swing!)... Course is starting to green up again in time for Southern Hemisphere summer - will post some pics soon!

38-46 for a stupid 84. I left five easy strokes on the back nine. I think I have a mental block that won’t let me get into the 80s. Always next time I guess.

Index went up a stroke this year, and I have been living in the low to mid 80's this year.  I have not been able to get my driver to what it was last year.  I made a grip change going into my last round and shot a 78 first go with it.  67% FIR and 56% GIR.  The GIR is probably sub-par to most, but I will note that the course I played has a lot of very small greens that are easy to miss...for me.  Only 1 birdie, but I was happy with my club face control.  Also had very centered contact throughout the round.  I have added 20+ yards to my drives since switching from my TSI driver to the LTDX.

2 GIR, back to back birds, with a double on the 9th for a 39. Won $40 for our net 29 in the two man best ball.
