a disappointing 81. 

great off the tee, good mid irons, full wedge play was off leaving tons of very long putts. 

It was windy out there and my wedges are new to me so yeah I am getting used to distances

73. Progress. Driving was dire but rest of game much improved.

92 on a semi-private course in fantastic shape. Pin locations were ridiculous and greens were fast. New driver is worth it, hit so many FIRs. Wedges were bad today, but short game was good. Fun day overall getting to play.

Got to play for free today (always good) a friend had won a free foursome and it was expiring so he invited me out to play.  I had obligations beforehand so i got to the course with about 5 minutes before our tee time, which was just enough time park, to get on my shoes and get a couple dry swings in.  Hit driver and ended up decent for being the 1st ball of the day.  Approach was left of the green and chip on missed the stick by an inch and rolled 40' past.  3-putted for a double but par on 2, 5 and 6 had me +4 through 6.  Disaster 7, ended up with a 9.   Played rollercoaster on the back, 3 doubles and 4 pars.  Had a 5 footer for birdie on 18 and left it short.  I was even more frustrated when I realized that a birdie would have put me at 89 which would be the 2nd time to break 90***.  Overall a fun day and if I can cut down the big numbers, I'll be living in the 80s.

 

 

 

***1st time I shot *88 but I played 2 different tees because my driver broke on the front 9.  Posted as two 9s, not sure if that counts as breaking 90.

40 38 78 but wait… I played the front 9 was from the whites . The back from the seniors. At 3500+ yards long on the back from the whites is too long for me.

81...with two triples. Currently on the quest to break 80 (on par 72) so you can imagine how the drive home went.  

I did however card my first eagle.

86 on a swampy wet course for the first round with the Srixon Z Forgeds sporting Modus Tour XS shafts.  Quite the step up from the Modus 105 Rs in my 223s and obviously needed because no more noodly ball flights.  Added 10-15 yards per club in a dead straight line.  Gonna take a few rounds to dial in my distances and comfort.  I"m not used to high flying 170 yard 7 irons and 185 yard 6 irons, but it's good thing at 65 years old.

 

I had swapped out my ST-X 220 driver shaft to XS a month ago which led me to the conclusion the irons were way too soft also.  A couple range sessions with demo clubs confirmed it.

After going 67-66 on Wednesday and Thursday with 1 bogey and 10 birdies in 36 holes ... I shot a 76 Friday with 1 birdie and 6 bogies.

 

Golf is cruel ... and humbling.

42, got to love technology though. I pull up my scoring app, it says I'm a 20.4 handicap, yet at my home course I'm a +10. I had it on net scoring so I ended up with a net 47 lol. I'm very happy with how I played especially since it's been a week and I was testing out a new ball.

69 from 6000. Fun tournament. Greenside in 2 on 2 par 5s and made par. Green side on 2 par 4s and made bogey-par. Coulda shoulda

Carried on my string of shooting in the 80s (only broke 90 once last year) by shooting 83. First time playing the course, so felt really good. Hitting the irons pure, and stuck 2 85/105 yard wedges to under 2 feet for birdies.

 

That being said I pulled my drive, and then 3rd shot OB on a short par 5, for a triple. What could have been.

Yesterday, stinky 78.  Drove the ball well, only the new composite iron shafts stunk.  Went back to PX.

Had a number of near misses on the green today too, and was not driving the ball well at all. 

Irons and wedges were dialed in. 

Wish I could get it all together for a string but I'm just happy to be playing at all after all the injuries I've had.

78 at Paiute Snow Mountain; helped only by a lucky AF flop dunk for eagle on 17 that got me back to level par on the back after a dismal 42 on the front.

Shot my age Friday (71). Pedestrian 3 birdies and 2 bogies. Greens were rough from aeration. Kind of like putting on giant waffles. Let’s see what happens this morning. (Not playing senior tees… yet)

I shot my all time best round of 75 this morning from our combo tees which are just under 6100 yds.  I retired 12 months ago and have been playing 2 to 3 times a week after taking a series of lessons this spring.

 

It was a rocky start with a double on the first hole, then bogie on #2.  Found my groove starting on #3.  At the turn I was 3 over (39) and was 1 over (36) on the back (par 71).
 

It was my first time ever with 4 birdies (3 on back 9).  I birdied 3 out of 4 par 3s and chipped in for birdie on a tough par 4.  The birdies were great but I was most proud of my two sand saves from green side bunkers for par.  I hit most of the fairways (225yd average drive), hit 9 GIR, and had 30 putts.

 

My handicap was 12.5 but this round will get me to 11 cap.  My goal is to get to single digits by the end of the year.  I was playing in a foursome with three of my coworkers.

Shot a 40-38 78 on a par 71. Good score for me and the second 78 the last 2 Wednesdays. Only had 25 putts and only hit 4 GIR. It was a rather odd day .

I've got out 3 times in the past week or so. First 2 rounds shot 42 then 40. 3rd round was a 48. One of those where everything was just a little off. Tee shots that were good oftentimes ended up in bad spots. Short game was bad, a lot of chips going over or short of intended target, if it did hit the intended target it just rolled a lot more than I thought it would. Putting was mediocre too. I'll chalk it up to just one of those days, going out for 18 tomorrow, well later today at the time I'm writing this, and it'll be at one of my favorite courses.

1 over. What a waste of a round. Hit it close all day but greens were running about 7. Slow, grainy bermuda. I think I made 1 putt all day and 3 putted twice. Hit it close enough to shoot 5-7 under.
