98.  I was making good contact on 90% of my shots.....but my accuracy has been poor the past couple of weeks.  Worse was my chipping and putting.  Simply couldn't get anything going.  Wind really cause a lot of problems.

On the bright side.....the PXG 0311 Gen 5 driving iron that I bought a couple weeks back continues to improve.  One or two misfires off the tee (I played 27) with it....but I also cracked a couple lasers over 260 yards....which I did not expect to see back when I bought the club.

A 40-44 not bad but no birdies. The back nine was an up and down 5 pa4s and 5 double bogeys. It was the worst of times , it was the best of times….

Went to a course I've played a couple times, shot a 45 (+10) which included a double and a triple. The double was on the hardest hole on the course, the triple I would've liked to do better but going downhill out of a bunker, I was a little worried about going well over into a hazard. Putting was OK, missed some makeable ones with some slight mis-reads, but they weren't tap ins either. Finished the round with 2 pars, sunk a good putt to save par on a par 5 and played a long par 3 well. Overall, it was a good round. I felt like I had better touch on my chips, which had been a problem the last couple rounds.

So has anyone ever experienced the joy of somehow losing a provisional ball they saw land in the middle of the fairway? That is the kind of round this was.

That's the worst especially when the whole group converges on the spot the ball went/landed and no one can find it. Usually in cases like that with my friends or even some randoms we just say free drop cause we know where it went just not where it is.

Competitive tournaments obviously a different story.

69, 2nd time in last 10 days

weird as my driver is a little off with overdraws

69 again this morning

arghhh

15 GIR … mama cita … it could’ve been really low with a semi-hot flat stick

driver fixed … just not making putts (gotta go graphite I guess)

new 6i in the bag … and it’s working … so I got that going for me

cap running at 1.5

its weird, 43rd year golfing, but somehow in the last 3 weeks I’ve found something with both my driver and short irons that are working day after day

Shot 46 walking the Eisenhower Park Blue course as a single for a quick Nine with two Pars earlier this afternoon. I needed to get done by 5:00 PM to run errands. I was fortunate that it only took me an hour and 49 minutes as a walk-up. This course is the only one in Long Island with twin Par 3s to allow faster groups to pass slower groups so I was able to pass a foursome.  No warm-up before the round. Weather was hot and humid - low 90s but got cooler towards the end of my round. Tested new putting routine with no dry swings. Got immediate results draining a 30+ putt for one of my two Pars of the round. Too many mishits including chunks, shank, bad chip shots and two lost balls that led to 10 over.

38-38 for a 76 yesterday. Worst ball striking day over the last month but somehow scored better than my average over that same time period. Played an unintentional high cut all day which kept me in play with tons of birdie chances. The last 4-5 rounds I’ve been really striking the ball well and the one round I didn’t feel great about my ball striking turned out to be the best round of the year so far. Golf is a funny game and I can’t wait to get back out tomorrow and see what happens.

Even worse, I ended up not needing it because I found my original tee ball (in a terrible lie) 30yds short of where I thought it had gotten out to.

Played a new course today with a buddy. Kept the streak of 80s rounds going but putted so poorly. Last couples rounds were 35+ putts, so I swapped out my old B60 for a Tyne 4 and made no difference. Need some time on the putting green.

Also, I could feel my first sub-80 round coming, so I cut a dogleg on 18 and had a downhill lie-120 in. Easy GW, which I shanked it off the hosel OB. Then finished off with a solid 3 putt from 10 feet.

Another "what could have been" rounds for me. Fun times though.

I intended to just play 9 or maybe a few more holes but to limit my heat exposure to 2 hours due today. Unfortunately, I happened to be scoring really well and didn't want to quit.

So I ended up finishing the round, I was one over after 14 holes then kind of "hit the wall" heat-wise and started hitting awful shots and making bogeys after that. I didn't experience any heat illness and was fine once I got out of the sun and cooled off for a few minutes but I probably pushed my luck about a half-hour past the prudent time to quit.

If I'd have been 10 over instead of 1 over starting the back nine I'd have probably called it a day at the turn!

44 - 41, 85 last Friday. Got an invite to play a course I hadn't played before and had wanted to. Fun round overall, but four 3-putts was disappointing. Figured it out at the end and finished the last five holes +1, but took too long to get there. Loving the new driver. Going to stick with one putter the rest of the season. Still having a lot of fun out there with friends, enjoying the summer rounds.

Still technically in the fairway. 🤣

I'm now able to out drive the fairway on 3. While that is good news for my driving distance, I need to change my strategy on this hole.

I'm a s*** golfer....and am pretty liberal with drops/mulligans....but this is correct, imo.  Even if you are pretty stringent on scoring.  If you hit a ball that everyone sees and manages to disappear?

After a 3 week no-golf break due to summer holidays with the family, shot a season best 80 yesterday (had an unofficial 83 the day before while shaking off the cobwebs). Played solid, but the putter let me down this round. Was leaving myself with way too many long par putts throughout and my luck ran out. The last three bogeys on the round are pretty much 3 putts as I was putting from the fringe and just couldn't get the lag speed right. Been 2 years since I broke 80 (had a cap of 7 back then and am sitting at 11 now).

40 on Sunday from the “tips”. Decent play, good weather and paired up with a threesome of 70 y/os who could play.

Highlights were 2nd hole 6I from 175 that stuck 18” from the hole for birdie.

Lowlight on 7th was one of the guys taking a drive from the next teebox to the mouth as we left the green.  40 yards and hidden behind a dense row of pines, the ball was a heat seeker that split his lip about a half inch clean thru.  Hardly a chance to even yell.  No loose teeth and he drove himself to get repaired.  My day ended after 9 because that was too close for comfort in my mind.

Ended up playing our back 9 twice in 2:40 because it was empty while the front was jammed.  38/41 with good iron play and a hot putter.  Been practicing short wedge work with the new Cleveland Zipcores 2-3 times a week and it’s paying off with shorter first putts, even a couple tap ins and one hit flagstick.  🙂
