Today was the second real nice weather day I have enjoyed this spring we have been in a bad weekend weather loop and lots of rain and wind.

 

Today was sunny and the wind was like 10mph but steady not gusty

 

I shot 73 with one birdie and my only bogeys two three putts. Now I did not hit every green which means I got it up and down everytime I missed a green That never happens

Me and three buddies just got back from Chambers Bay, in Tacoma Washington last night. This is the new course that will host the 2010 U.S. Amatuer, and the 2015 U.S. Open. The course is awesome, but the greens really need some time to mature. I shot my usual consistent style. 85, 75. :good:

Saturday with no wind and a little wind shot 78 from 6600 yards.

 

Sunday in our first GAP match shot 75 in two club wind from 7100 yards.

Played terribly today...shot 93...in a tournament too! I feel pretty stupid...my driving was everywhere and I had 35 putts. It seemed like I was punching out of the trees on every hole!

Play my first full 18 hole round of the year, I've played 9 the past 3 days..the course finally fully opened.

So far this year I've been playing like complete crap, I've been all over the course, with zero consistency. It finally started to come around on the back 9. I shot a 49 on the front..which was extremely painful. And I shot a 41 on the back, it should have been a 39 but I'm happy my game is finally coming around. So I shot a 90, which is bad. But my swing is feeling wayyy better so thats good.

A sweet 80. on a par 71 course that has water on ALL 18 holes.

 

I played good, hit some great drives. almost drove a 290 par 4. Left the chip close for the bird and missed the putt...GAH

97...bad. Bad decision making lead to bad shots. Hit a couple drives into the trees and instead of just punching out, I tried to weave through the trees and just got into more trouble :)

 

Putting was decent and drives were decent overall, but iron shots were killing me, too many thin shots :clapping:

Shot a 78 with 37 putts - funny thing is, I think I putted OK today! Our greens have just been "cored" so no use reading too much into the putting stats. 13/18 GIR is good for me though so I was happy with that.

 

Just couldn't expect to make many birdie opportunities.

On friday i shot a 83 which was my best score and then yesterday i did even better and shot a 82. talk about a few good days.

played thur. shot a 89, 4 putted on #1 for double, had a couple 3 putts for bogey and double bogey on 3 pars 5's. but hay almost to my goal of mid 80's

you have to love putting up to a hole and it roles back down the green past you. :clapping: not really could happen on at least 4 or 5 greens

on a good note had one of my best drives ever 340, chocked down 8 iron 180 off back of green chipped to two feet made the putt :) best played this hole since eagled it the first time ever playing it

 

 

friday shot 89 had two unplayable lies and had a triple on short par 3

club down play a draw with the wind and turn in to a hook which end up it tree.

windy as all get out, sustained 25'ish, gusts as high as 36.

 

 

 

a double bogey and a birdie with some pars and bogey's sprinkled in.......78. i could not play a par 5 to save my life. hit 7 of 7 fairways on the front and 6 of 9 GIR's....17 putts. i lost my card after the 18th hole so i don't know the stats of the back nine. i missed a butt load of birdie putts inside 12 feet.

 

 

all told....my short game sucks major @ss.

Drove it bad, irons were bad and putting was bad. I did hit a couple of nice chips! :yes: Only reason I shot 73 instead of 83, I kept it in play. Hit most of the fairways and greens, but not many solid shots.

Played yesterday had three birdies on front with TWO triple bogies =39 +3, all pars on the back except 15 & 18 where I had bogie, 77 with TWO triples! (par 72) Oh what it could have been, had several good saves so I guess it all equals out. (Dang that could have been my first under par round this year!)

Quicksilver is nasty. its a beast from the tips. i go to Robert Morris (15 mins away) played there in the fall for Club Golf. best round there was 76 from tips. had 12 putts on front nine shot 1-over. hard course, fast greens.

Played my home course, Hickory Ridge, today. Shot a 75 from the tips (73.3 rating). Missed a few birdie putts from inside 20 feet but other than that I can't complain much!

 

I'm surprised that this thread isn't used as much as it should be! I'm glad I just stumbled upon it.

Played home course last week in 15-25 mph winds (south texas) and was -7 thru 11 holes. Course record: -7. Needless to say the wind got ahold of me and bogeyed 2 of the last 4 coming in to shoot 66...haha best wind round i've played. Par 71 course rating, 72.6

75 today with only one birdie... pretty blah, but it rained and had 20mph wind gusts for the front nine.

 

Anywho, I played with old mizzy TP9's... just striping a blade 3iron... very happy with that considering I have been playe cavities and felt retro today.

I finally broke 80 on Saturday. I was shaking when I lipped out my 5 footer for 78. Not a bad recovery considering I dunked my tee shot on a short par 3 and made triple bogey.

On a 200 par 3 into the wind i hit my 210 club, pured it, into the wind, about 30 yards short. Hit some 200 yard 3 woods(240 -250 club) off the tee that got up into the wind and left me with 180 - 200 in on shorter par 4's on a few occasions. One par 3 I aimed about 20 yards right and the wind brought it back. It was a real fun and adventurous round to play.

If you have to play in bad conditions all of the time it can get quite annoying. But every once and awhile I enjoy a round in some severe wind just to test my game and my shot making. Breaking 80 in those conditions is pretty impressive!

Yea I agree the square drivers are.........well not my cup of tea, I have the DVS shaft in my FT 5 and love it, shot 76 Sunday and a 75 Wednesday, just can't get the putter to work!

I had not touched a club for two weeks my Father in Laws funeral was last weekend

 

 

I think I am still recovering from the drive

 

I hit the ball well today but I screwed it up

 

on the front I made a birdie and two bogeys one bad drive and I was lucky as hell on the other bogey I had a lost ball (horrible five wood from and ugly lie a foot out of the fairway on a par five)

 

The back I made seven pars a double (chunked a five iron from a bad lie two foot out of the fairway) then chunked a wedge

 

You would think after 44 years I would know not to work on new techniques in the middle of a round

 

Then I got to 18 its a fairway wood over trees big dog leg left. I hit it ok but right at the tallest tree and I nipped it and went in the water. I was honestly too tired to grind it out after that

 

I hacked a couple of shots then hit a perfect nine iron it was eating the flag up when it fell out of the sky about 50 foot short

 

I then proceeded to have my first three jag of the day

 

I turned a sub par round into a 78 I am a magician :D
