My Course Hcp for the 9 is 6 (41)

So -1 my Course Hcp

I really need to dial in my wedges from 75 - 125 yards. I miss too many greens from this yardage.

Showed up for my 7:30 tee time debating if I was gonna  play at all.  ~50*, winds gusting to 20 and course is soggy.  Went off the back 9 and played unconscious for me.  38 with many one putts in 60 minutes.   Now I gotta play the front.  lol

 

Two birdies, two bogies.  /smh Scored 74 in 1:50.  Putter was smoking, driver smouldering.  My best round in 3 years.  Net 64.

I was on cloud 9 when I shot 91 at Bethpage Black last 05/29/2023.

 

I made a smart decision by playing combination white/forward tees to meet my minimum total yardage requirement (6,200 yards) from my golf league.

 

This was my third attempt from the last 3 years in trying to break 100. My previous attempts were 105 (first) and 120 (second).

 

For a guy with a 16.1 handicap, I was ecstatic with a 91, shooting 51 (+15) on the front and 40 (+5) coming back. I got hammered on the front but rebounded nicely on the back with a Birdie on #17. I almost got a hole in one but the ball stopped 6 inches short of the hole so I was still happy with a Birdie. 

 

Btw, I achieved this feat without any warmup at all and nearly broke 90!

 

This game will make you crazy but I still love it. 

 

I'm also looking forward to playing the Black again and hopefully break 90.

Some of the toughest course conditions I've ever played got to my head for several holes. Rain, wind, 4-5 inch rough, skinny fairways, no aprons and greens stayed fast with Sunday pin placements.  Just have to chalk this 1 up as a sacrifice to the golf gods.

Triple bogey on 7. 😭 Thinned a 90yrd approach with 54* into hazard behind green. Dropped, then 3 putted. 🤕 Ouch. Otherwise,  for me, a really solid round. Oh yeah, and Eagle on 5 😉

4 over 75.  73.9/144 playing 7200 yards in the rain, super soft conditions so playing long but you could get after everything since the greens were also receptive. 

 

Found myself 3 over through 4 holes at the start, birdie on the par 5 then found my groove. Finished the front 2 over and went 2 over on the back. Was either a bridie or a bogey type day, was hitting the ball really well just caught some really bad lies and bounces but that is golf.

93.  Driving home, I called the course and they said they had a 4:45 available.  Was going to be put with a group of 3.  When I got to the tee, I was the only one there so I tee it up and hit my 5w down the left side of the fairway.  As I am about to head off another solo pulls up so he joins me and we are off.  

 

Putter started off ice cold with a 4 putt on 1 (last one from 2 feet) and a 3 putt on 2 for back to back 6s but it got better after an up and down par on 3.  This course is designed as 3 6 hole loops and I, being the "consistent" player I am went 31-31-31.  I need to work on 3-5 foot putts as I missed several in the round, plus that missed 2 footer. and I can be in the 80s.

52 on 9 from the (3400 yd) tips

 

Despite the less than magnificent score I feel like I actually played well. I left a lot of strokes on the course with dumb executive function mistakes but played smart golf throughout and putted very well when focused. Sank a 10' on the first hole to save bogey after topping my approach shot and dumping the followup wedge 10 yds left of the green, saved another bogey on the fourth after topping my tee shot with a cleanly taken never in doubt 4', and saved par from 20-25' on the 8th by perfectly judging the starting line and weight of a side slope traverse. Have not had actual confidence holding the putter in my hand really ever so that felt pretty nice.

73 on a par 60. Had 3 shanks that cost me 6 shots, no idea what was going on but the recovery was decent I guess. 

 

The game is ever so slowly coming together where breaking 80 might be within view soon.

81 on a par 71 . Putting much better. 2 birdies. Was even par on the back and took 2 doubles on the last hole. Was getting 11 strokes so overall not bad.

I can't wait for my new clubs. And Father's day will feature a good hour at the chipping range.

-3 with a reachable par5 left. Skies opened up...heavy downpour and lightning everywhere. So basically shot 69 and had a good shot at 68. 2nd sub 70 since starting work on a key swing change and since going to claw and using line on the ball for short putts.

Played Surfside for the first time, it was damn good. Looking at this tiered green thinking "I have a backstop, perfect!" Then come up short twice. 🤣 

 

I was hitting a Topflight XL and a Lynx I had found on the course. The Nike was spot on.

Today a totally different 6,200 yard small doglegged tree lined half heathland half parkland, par 69 course rated 70.3 and shot a 73

Played pretty lousily with the putter and a few errant other shots blew me out - shot a 105 which I wasn’t that happy with for how I was with the longer clubs and chips. However on the third hole - things got interesting - 9 iron off the tee to a back left pin, and aced it. Second hole in one of my career, first one that didn’t involve a lucky bounce off a cart path. Other member saw it from the tee of the 4th.

Yesterday I played Peninsula Golf Course in Long Beach. It's a short 9, but a great setting and overall very well taken care of. I hit the green on 8 twice at 256 yards and was very happy with that result. I know that isn't impressive for here, but I loved it. 

 

 

<edit> Titleist Velocity Orange on the left, white Cut Blue on the right. The Velocity is actually pin high, the Blue was about 5 yards shy.

That was only the second day I have played there.  I live further south in Terre Haute.  It's a gem though.  And can't beat Mondays 36 holes for $36.

Another awesome day.  38/41-79 with one birdie, eight bogies and a double on a par 70 course.  It feel like the swing is finally jelling and my putter stroke is solid.  Feels real good in my head best of all.

Played 27 holes in a league Tourney last June 20th. I was coasting along with two Birdies and a string of 3 straight Pars with 7 holes left in the first round and only 5 over which is really good for a 16 handicapper like me. 

 

I probably lost concentration and shot 18 over Par for the last 7 holes of the first round. I didn't do much better in the 9 hole second round, shooting +12.
