Threw a little 80 on the board yesterday. I moved back from 5750 tees to 6000 just to see how I could do. I've been back playing for two months after a five month layoff do to knee issues and ultimately a replacement. I knew it was going to be an interesting round because I started birdie-bogey-birdie-bogey. I scored 38 on the front and 42 on the back nine with a double on #10. It's my best round since coming back. Hopefully, I can sneak back into the mid to high 70s soon.

Played a quick 9 yesterday morning and show 41(+5) on punched greens, there was definitely 2-3 putts that I missed because of the condition of the greens. Really happy with how my game is currently trending.

So frustrating because i shot a total of +4 on all the back 9s lol. 

 

seems to be a common theme for me. although it's reassuring that i was able to put together good rounds (for me) despite the absolute disaster during my front 9s.

Shot 97 with 4 shanks at Bethpage Black playing forward tees.

 

I was hoping to break 91, which is my best score so far 2 years ago as an 18 cap.

 

It was reported that the rough would be less severe (under 2 inches) but it looks like they have not yet trimmed it to spec.

 

Drives and second shots were better than normal but my wedges that are usually reliable were dicey this time around due to multiple shanks. 

 

I also had at least 4 shots that were bad breaks as they were in terrible lies either severe side hill or knee high shots. 

 

Ryder Cup prep work is currently underway with the stands being built on #18 and #16.

 

 

Anyway, I'd still consider myself fortunate to play the Black as its still open to the public until June 29.

 

At $70, this is way better than paying $800 to walk the course during the Ryder Cup this September. 

 

I'll probably try to play it again a couple times but will try to snag a better deal with a twilight tee time for $47 and play the last 2 holes after sunset.

even through 6. double on 7 when it should've been a bogey (got into trouble and tried to launch a shot over a big ol' tree and failed fabulously when i shouldve just gone low) and bogey on 8 when it should've been a par (3 putt).

First round walking 18 of the year for me yesterday on a hilly and tight course (back tees are only 6500 but its still a par 71 with a rating of 71.5), shot a 85 that felt like it should have been a 75. Struck the ball well but just didnt score well, too many blind approach shots and tee shots into sloped fairways that I would have hit diffrently had I know the landing area was that badly sloped.  Positive of having consistent rain the last month is the course is in superb condition all around. Negative of all the rain is the rough is thick and juicy; rough was actually penal for the first time in a couple years (consistent drought conditions here for the better part of 5 years).

Today was my 4th day in a row playing golf which is a first for me.  Ended up having my best round of the week today.

Man, I just had probably one of my favorite rounds ever the other day. Shot 67 on a course thats rated at 74. Even missed a 5 footer for birdie on one hole and a 6 footer for par on another. I didn't even hit the ball that well, but the mental game was SOOOO good. Crazy how important that part is and gets so overlooked.

Was totally humbled by a classic Scottish links and the weather yesterday. Needed a 5 iron to reach a 133 yard par 3.

Dawn patrol duty this morning. First off at 6:05am and never let anyone catch me. Shot 77 with a couple lousy three putts I’m blaming on awful pin placements. Played the Cobra copper RF MBs for the second time and feel they’re keepers. Just so awesome feeling when struck well.

Shot a PB 86 at Grapevine GC in Grapevine, TX today.  Mockingbird-Pecan rotation for anyone that may know it.  Very, very, happy with it for a few reasons.

 

Mainly, I had to end with my least favorite of the 9 (Pecan) as my back 9, and didn't get to play my favorite of the 9s (Bluebonnet) at all.

 

Secondly, I didn't have a single birdie and still managed a PB. 

 

Third, kept the same ball for the first time ever.

Shot a 92, 87, 100.  First 3 rounds recorded since I stopped playing back in 2021 due to some health issues. Back at it now. 

 

Goal is to just consistently be around 85. I have fun no matter what, I figured out a long time ago I was never going pro. I just want to beat my buddies and occasionally play a round without losing a ball. Maybe get my kids hooked.

feel like i drove the ball way better during my 90 round vs the 39 lol. i think i hit 10/14 fairways but couldn't sniff the green on my approach (somewhere around 4/18 greens lol)

Struggling mightily with my driving since I broke my previous gamer. Shot a miserable 88 yesterday (+10 net 😢). Pins were from a comp the day before and in pretty diabolical places and ended up with 40 putts. Worst I've scored in about 2 years on my home course in pretty much ideal weather.

Even par (72) for the first time after shooting my life best +3 (75) few days ago, which came right after my round of +18 (90) lol. 

 

Granted i was playing 2 tees up but holy cow.
