Who is the best YouTube Golfer?

***Update: A YouTube golfer is a golfer who does not have any tour status which rewards OWGR/Rolex World Ranking points and they have their own YouTube channel.***

 

After watching this, who do you reckon is the best YouTube golfer?

 

There are many out there and they should have their own channel. It would be be more objective to go by their tournament/competition results rather than their channel matches.

 

I wouldn't necessarily count Wesley Bryan because it seems like it is more George Bryan's channel.

 

I reckon it might be Luke Kwon.

Though i like the majority on youtube golfers, personally Garret at GM Golf is leader so far since the UK has been in lockdown and we haven’t been allowed on the course (just 14 days away now). Its going to be interesting to see Finch/shiels take on Garret/tig. 
 

as for instructors shawn, sav and mu hands down

Garrett can't beat Micha so there is no chance it is Garrett ... Micha is pretty solid overall, and long.

Garrett was a talented college golfer but was ineligible for ncaa level (video on his ytube channel) all are good for golf imo

It’s gotta be Bryan Bros Golf. Obviously Wesley isn’t on there as much any more because you know, he’s busy playing on the PGA Tour, but he was very instrumental to the success of the channel for a long time. 
 

There might be another golf YouTuber that has gone on to win a PGA Tour event that I've overlooked, but I can't think any off the top of my head.

This topic is kinda fun, so I'll bite...here's my hot take; I'm going to take Luke Kwon and Wesley Bryan out because they're tour players...so Ian Fraser is the best. He has the best handicap and is the most consistent out of all of them. He would mop the floor with GM, Rick, and Peter. George Bryan is second, with Micah a close 3rd. Matty boy would be a close 4th. 

 

sidenote: I personally cringe watching GM golf or Rick Shiels. Rick has some good content but I stay away from his club reviews cause I find them to be a joke. TXG so much better and is on another level. GM golf...god I can't stand watching him swing or even hear him talk. Kid has potential, but needs lessons and reps. His steep downswing with pull hooks brings back some bad memories for me haha.

Probably George Bryan would be my pick. Regarding Finch, I don’t watch him too consistently but I feel like he was better before he started changing his swing a couple years ago to that swing left, cut everything Alex Noren swing.

I havent had a chance to watch Rick's take on it but heres mine:

 

Talent wise taking out Luke/Wedgely, its up between George Bryan/Tig but I'm leaning towards G4. Garrett has moments of brilliance and I'm glad to see him finally getting some real coaching, but he's a headcase. 1 bad shot leads to several others and he cant seem to shake it. 

 

Somebody that hasnt been mentioned here that has a real shot is Kyle Berkshire. Kid seems to be finding his game and with his long stick could reallllly overpower some courses. 

 

Lastly, the wildcard here is Matt from TXG. Kid is a stick on the sim but I'd really like to see him in some course vlogs. 

 

Personally, I think theres a heavy UK / US bias. I think the UK boys would wreck the US boys if it were held in UK and vise versa. Its really 2 styles of golf. 

 

Regardless, can we have it broadcasted by Big Al?

Shiels is a Muppet. But that what makes him fun. 

 

Alex Etched hammers it, but the short game doesn't seem to be there.

 

Michael Newton seems like he should have the whole game, but I've never seen a Vlog.

 

From what I've seen Finch plays the most out of the YouTubers and seems the most competitive.

 

Clay Ballard seems to strike it well. I haven't seen anything with his short game. I seem to recall him being a +4 from somewhere..

 

Monte obviously can play. He is the only one I've seen hit in person. The guy absolutely moves it.

 

Shawn Clement was scratch from both sides... but I haven't seen a course vlog in too long.

 

George Bryant can go on some heaters, and from what I've seen on just YouTube. He seems to play the most and doesn't do a lot of teaching or equipment reviews.

 

Gankas had a few vlogs out there and he can reeeally play. And he spends most his day teaching on the range.

 

If they were to pick up and play tomorrow, I lean towards George Bryant. If they were to practice a month I'd lean towards George Gankas.

Rick Shiels organised a youtuber golf day a while ago, I don't remember there being many decent scores 😂

I was watching Dan Hendrickson today and they discussed the shout/call out from Shiels.

 

Dan made a good point about there being a difference between guys who golf on YouTube, usually appearing on someone else's channel, and the guys who actually have their own channel and do the filming, etc themselves.

I would like to see Jerge (George Bryant) vs Zac Radford.  Both can send it and have great short games.   I definitely see Zac in the conversation.  When Zac is on he would give Wesley a run.

 

Peter Finch was 2nd in the YouTube golf day and was one of the favorites.  I think he is trying to get more into competitive golf so there may be changes there.

 

I figure it's like all top golfers.  The one having the best day is going to come out on top that day.
