I'm Worried About Monte - New Rebellion Golf EE Video

Great video series and interesting to see all the various root causes of the problem. If I had to self diagnose I’d fall under the transition phase from sliding.

Never really understood how the hips were supposed to re gain flex until watching the series.

This would save beginner students a lot of trouble if they learned the correct hip movements before touching a club or ball..

I do love the old videos where he didn't give a %$#@ about those things.  I especially enjoy the rants about what the talking heads on tv say at times that makes him facepalm no doubt.  I have one of his newer series and it is very polished which is great.  If I need to get my fill of good ol Monte teaching flavor, I just find an old video of his on youtube.

Monte Scheinblum and corporate, lol.  That's really funny the more I think about it.  Reminds me of those opposite word analogies on the SAT.

Glove: ML
Tees: 2 3/4
Towel: white
Repair tool: metal
Ball Marker: largest poker chip in the world
Iron headcovers: wait, what?

The feedback system is annoying

has monte done a video on posture or commented on gankas opinions.... i've seen prominent instructors talk about how the waist line or hip line points downward rather than having the butt tucked and flat forward facing buckle.

gankas really pushes the tush line being just barely behind the heels and a rounded back so that you can remain tall in backswing and then turn through the shot. .... especially for tall golfers.

haven't seen montes thoughts. i've seen the amt guys videos and i know monte is friends... but would like to see their direct thoughts compared to gankas.

i'd really like to see an instructor that breaks down body movements , hips . transistions, etc between someone that is 5'8 vs 6'3. is there a difference? seems gankas is one of the few that actually makes the point that taller players are more likely to EE because of the old school taught setup

Monte references a tucked pelvis in this video and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen him mention it in another one of his video series.

There's a lot of similarities between what Monte and George G are teaching. George goes into more detail about it (that's an understatement lol). I would love to see Monte do a follow-up to the EE video that discusses P6-finish.

How to film your golf swing:

Down The Line

Between Monte's No Turn Cast Video and doing an online lesson from him last season, I was hitting the ball so well and dropped my scores and was hitting more GIR.

The other day though at the range (first time hitting the ball outside in months) I was having some trouble.  Turns out some of the indoor practice I did caused me to compensate due to a low ceiling and not much room behind me to make a full normal swing.  I filmed the outdoor swing, and saw what looked like a false hip turn. Then I see Monte released an EE video, and sure enough, one of the segments is about false hip turn, and getting that right pocket high and back. Once the temps get above freezing again, I am going to take the video thoughts outside and see if I can get back on track before the season starts!

Monte - thanks for all of the videos and support on this forum, I will keep buying your content because it is the best I've seen.

Great video. Believe it or not, I felt like the conclusion was what resonated with me the most. The thing about watching videos is, it's hard to translate words and pictures into what something actually feels like. The concept in the last part of the video finally resonated with me. Same concept Monte discussed at length in The Efficient Swing , but this is the first time where I was like "Wow, okay. NOW I get what it should actually feel like." I got away with EE for a long time when I played in college due to the sheer amount of practice and playing and I was able to mostly keep it together with timing, but now with a full-time job and kids, my swing has basically fallen apart. Feel like with the new feels from this video I think I'm finally starting to understand what a good swing should actually feel like... putting it together on the course is a whole other challenge though.

Don't take this the wrong way, this isn't a challenge - but usually the one claiming they've seen better should be the one sharing the links.

Among the many impressive things about Monte, to me, the most impressive is the consistency over many years of what he teaches.  I am sure Monte will be first to tell you he is still learning, and has made recent discoveries to further help students.  That's what great teachers do - keep learning.  But there has been no radical shifts in what he teaches.  You can trace a very straight line from cargo short youtube videos in a field to later youtube lessons recorded at Oak Creek to the experiment with Be Better Golf to Efficient Swing Series to NTC series and now EE - a d* mn straight line.

A student can drop in anywhere in any of these videos, skip around, and what they will find is no contradiction, and many, many reinforcing principles.

I see he once again got left off the Oscars nominations for best costume and hairstyling, but that's ok...the storytelling is beyond Oscar worthy!

Just checked out the new series.  Monte dives deep into any one of 10 (give-or-take) causes of early extension.

But, I'm worried Monte's getting too corporate.  Too polished.

I'm starting to long for the days of cargo shorts and videos in the park.

Now, we're getting all these overhead swing shots, great graphics and visual aids, clean/crisp polos and <gasp> color-coordinated pants?

The worst thing is the language.  So precise and formal. I don't think he made ONE farm animal reference!

Seriously, the videos are solid and thorough.

Shows that EE is not an automatic diagnosis with one or two root causes.  Truly varies by the individual.

Drones with professional quality video are getting more affordable. What do you expect from a professional? But I agree, getting quite “polished” Hahaha

  • 3 weeks later...

Reviving this thread as I see a lot of others on EE and the crowd could probably benefit from a larger discussion on this video.

My recent experience:

I was watching this video a couple of weeks ago...

Then I forgot about it as it's pretty insane to me.  But last week, after hitting these weak drives on the front 9, not bad, but just these tee shots that at apex sort of weaken out and drop to the right, not a slice, not a push, just weak.  Looking to mix it up on the back 9, I think of this video, and think why not try to really ramp up the speed?

While waiting on 11th tee I am remembering bits and pieces and it comes back to me where BDC is showing this big stretch up top and just firing down hard.  Which then gets me thinking of the end of Monte's EE video.

Monte finishes the EE series with "if you just understand one thing"...focus on buckle - flex at address, extend, then first move down flex, then extend through impact...just know that.

So I went after one really focusing on extension and get back into flexion fast....and boom, down the middle, solid, that weak drop off gone, and another 10+ yards.

Then the rest of the back 9, then last two rounds, I am just feeling same thing, grip tighter and just go after it with the biggest key, 1st move down get into flexion.   It's been a lot of fun this past week+.

Now I am starting to think, do i need to ramp up irons a bit?  When you are trying to go faster and just making sure you are getting into flexion, there is not time to think or direct anything else.  And there is not time to overdo or do wrong some conscious action as that is going to be way too late.

There is also a confidence that is needed because, try to ramp speed on the tee and you do not regain flexion from the top, that ball is going OB!!!

Just video 6 in the series, 2 min 50 seconds is all, is worth the price of the admission!
