The "Herniated Disk" sale - T100 Irons, Cobra F9 Tour 3 and 5 woods, ACCRA Shafts and a set of grips.

Recommended Posts

As the title stated, injured my back at work and diagnosed with a herniated disk.  Starting physical therapy Monday, but surgery is a high likelihood per my worker's comp Doctor.  So, because I can no longer work overtime to fund my golf addiction, some items are up for sale.  All prices include shipping and insurance.  Prices are negotiable, however I do believe I've priced the items fairly.  If I'm off on pricing, please let me know.  See pics for conditions, some blemishes on the 5 wood.  Shipping to the CONUS only.

1- 4-PW Titleist T100 with DG 120 X100 shafts.  Purchased here sometime last year and re-shafted with the 120 X100 with GP BCT midsize grips (put these on late December, so they are in excellent used condition).  The PW has a GP Tour Velvet Midsize grip (that's the grip I use on my wedges).  Standard loft and lie and 5 irons measures 38 1/4 inches.  Gamed most of last season and 2 rounds this year.  Normal wear and bag chatter.  While I believe clubs are tools not jewels, I do take care of my stuff.  See pictures for conditions.  I can send more pictures upon request, just give me some time because mobility is an issue.  Asking SOLD shipped OBRO.

2- Cobra F9 Tour 3 wood with Oban Isawa 75 04 flex (stiff) shaft at 43 1/4 inches long.  GP Tour Velvet Midsize grip (Still has life left).  No head cover. Asking SOLD shipped OBRO.

3- Cobra F9 Tour 5 wood with a Diamana Limited D+ 80x shaft at 42 3/4 inches long and a GP Tour Velvet Midsize grip (Still has life left).  Used stock head cover included. Asking SOLD shipped OBRO.

4- ACCRA TZ6 Proto 85 M5 shaft with Cobra fairway adapter and measures a shade under 41 1/2 inches.  Tipped 1.5 inches.  Asking $150 shipped or OBRO.

5- ACCRA TZ6 Proto 65 M5 shaft with no adapter and measures 42 7/8 inches. Untipped.   Asking SOLD shipped or OBRO.

6- Seven Golf Pride MMC grips (standard size).  Clean pull from a set of Srixon irons, used once on the range when I got the ZX7.  Asking SOLD shipped.

Get an inversion table, some fish oil, and collagen powder

I've got the inversion table.  Just not recommended at the time by the doc.  But I won't lie, it's so painful at times (muscle spasms have subsided) I'm afraid to try any traction on the spine.  Pain shoots down the front of my leg and burns the lower portion of my shin.  The fish oil and collagen powder work well?

Yeah they do but it sounds like you have may have more than they can fix. Fish oil is a good pick up for everyone regardless, and collagen could help. It's cheap enough to be worth a shot. I used the collagen and inversion table to for the most part solve my bulging disk. Years of football, motocross, power lifting and golf did a number on my back but as long as I stay on my regimen I don't have any issues. I get fish oil at trader joes and take 5 with dinner, and drink a tea spoon or so of collagen and hang upside down once or twice a week

Sounds good.  I'll have the wife pick some up this weekend.  I'll try anything to avoid surgery.  Thank you for the advice!

Yeah well I hope you find a way out of this. Until now I thought people that already have inversion tables aren't out there getting surgery

I was doing well, back was strong, workouts were great.  Work just got the better of me this time.  Just glad worker's comp accepted the claim almost immediately.

Man just some friendly advice...I would try everything possible before having surgery.  Check out some of the back workout plans at Precision Movement.  It has really helped me (I do the spine control one).  Back pain is typically caused by weakness/imbalances in other parts of the body like the hips or glutes (unless you've been in a car accident or something like that).  I had surgery over 10 years ago and it only made it worse...Good luck!

Absolutely gonna try everything before surgery!  Totally get what you are saying about weakness/imbalances, but that wasn't the issue.  I was injured during an incident.  I also had a co-worker who had back surgery about 8 months ago (not sure the procedure performed but it was low back issues) and he's in worse pain than before.  I'm sorry your back surgery didn't workout out either.  Stories like yours makes me concerned about surgery and I appreciate your advice.

I'll try everything and anything before surgery.

On the positive side, I had a herniated / bulging disc.  Came from know where.  Tried everything.  I was in constant pain 24 hours a day for 3 months.  Had the surgery ( Microdisectomy ) on November 3rd 2020.  Based on my results I would do it again.  I was so petrified, but so far I couldn't be happier.  Actually been swinging a club for a few weeks.  No discomfort, but I haven't really throttled up yet, not that 95-98 is throttling up. Haha.

Good luck.

Thank you for the positive side of surgery.  Hoping PT and some of the advice I've received (here and in PMs) will help me heal and avoid a surgery.  Or in the case I do have to have surgery, that I've strengthen the back so maybe the surgery does not have to be so severe.  Thanks again!!!

Best of luck my friend. You’ll get a lot of advice from people... some of it might even be conflicting advice. But instead if giving you granular advice on the injury, I’ll offer some 30,000 foot advice.

First, find the most competent attorney you can. Not your friend, not your wife’s boss’s wife... I’m a PI atty and the difference between an attentive, aggressive, TIMELY and competent comp lawyer and a mediocre one is a world of difference. Be it two month delays in getting an MRI authorization to undervaluing a PPD rating to neglecting to negotiate an MSA... a lot can go wrong if you have an incompetent like myself repping you.

Next, think about finding a neuro who works with an ortho during surgery. Your symptoms are surgical track at very least. Initial visit, prescribe 4 weeks pt, second visit, continued pt with an mri... once they refer you for the epidural... that’s hail mary time. Dual surgeon outcomes are much better than single surgeon when theres a fusion or disk replacement aspect. The neuro removes the damaged disk and preps the intervertebral space, then the ortho hammers in the fusion/replacement disk.

Last, find a “young” doctor. Young is relative when one must post 11 years of graduate school+training before being on their own, but the truth is that once a surgeon is out in the workforce, the focus SOMETIMES goes from being the best surgeon to making the most money. Some just go through the morions without studying the newest techniques. This matters because spine surgery has changed radically in the last 8-10 years. For a million years, discectomy and fusion was it. Now there are more options. Microdiscectomy alone. Disk replacement at one level. Now I’ve had client with

multi-level disk replacements!! That’s nuts. It’s corny, but that truly is “giving someone their life back”.

anyways. I’m done. Wait... one more Don’t take advice from some rando on the internet either!! Lol. Good luck.
