My buddies and I were looking to do a trip up through Grand Rapids in the summer, and I'm curious how booking courses works since as far as I can tell, most only take reservations three weeks out. If we stayed around Grand Rapids and wanted to play like Ravines, Diamond Springs, Pilgrims Run, The Mines, and Kaufman or something like that, is booking a package with lodging the only way to reserve things ahead of time? Are things already booked up? Just trying to figure out how to navigate a trip like this. Thanks!

Its been a couple years since I confirmed this but my notes say that Mines and Diamond Springs will take your reservation around January and Ravines will take it around March (played here in 2021).  Pilgrims told me in the past they'd take my reservation as soon as they open up their tee sheet (around December).

Just email them, tell them you have a group trip.  Usually they help you out.

Yup.  HHI in a couple weeks and Myrtle in late February so far. Trying to talk myself into Alabama's RTJ for March.  Air fares are thru the roof for darn near the entire month.

We did Cancun a couple weeks ago. Next up is Orlando because my wife is working the PGA show so of course I'm going to tag along a get some rounds in.

 

After that we have a guys trip to Innisbrook in Tampa the first weekend in February. 

 

I also booked a condo in Myrtle Beach for the family for spring break week.

Heading to Tampa/Naples/Orlando in 2 weeks for a 10-day trip. Probably just playing in Orlando though.

Yeah I’m heading to PHX/Scottsdale at the end of the month for 10 days. Golf, WMPO, more golf. Getting thru the month is rough, though. Just so cold out. Hard to even practice with heaters.

I just picked up a Garmin R50 launch monitor for my garage. About to start the offseason grinding.

So dumb. The pros are going to absolutely murder that course unless they have some tees to add length that I'm not aware of. There are 4 par 4s that are potentially driveable for many pros, even from the current back tees, and there's only one par 5 that is a legitimate professional par 5. Someone may actually shoot 54.

I had trouble not laughing when I saw this, going to have Sentry scores on a Par 70. How will this affect member play for you?

Course will be closed for 12 days around the event, and they're going to be cart-path-only for a while before then. They haven't sent out membership renewal info yet (that's supposed to be coming next week), so it'll be interesting to see what that looks like. I already wasn't totally sure about coming back, and this might affect my decision. I love the course (but conditioning aside, it's not a professional venue), and it's very convenient for me, but I'm already expecting the price to be going up quite a bit compared to what I paid in the early wave of memberships for last year, and since there's going to be an extended period during the prime part of the summer season where I can't play, that may mean that I make the tough decision to not renew.

so far so good. Took all of 60 seconds to setup. Hit some balls in the driving range and then played the front 9 of Greystone. By the weekend I’ll do a little more of an update but I’m pretty stoked at the moment.

Very nice, I was wondering how close the monitor was on the mat.  I don't have a ton of room to the back and was curious how this one worked.

Very nice to have Michigan courses.   Are you concerned about hitting wedges too high?

hasn’t been an issue. I’ve hit full 60 degree wedges and not had an issue .eventually I’d like to add some blackout fabric around the structure, will probably extend it up to the ceiling. So worse case it hits that, but so far so good

Heading to NC the end of February to play Tobacco Road and Pinehurst No 6, 7, and 2. Cant wait to swing some clubs outside again.

I'm headed there in October for the first time for my 40th with 3 of my buddies.

Playing No 2, No 8, Mid Pines, Southern Pines, Pine Needles, and Tobacco Road.

I've done one late last fall and had a great time.  Well organized, good food afterwards.

It's an amateur tournament.  Payouts are in the form of course gift certificates and yes, the do give those out.
