Thanks.  Yeah, I might just backout.  My chance to play would be Friday.  Mid 40s and swampy this time of year is the same in Georgia, not that desperate to get out.

Probably a wise decision. We're expected to get 5-7" of rain between now and Sunday night. I'm guessing my club won't even be open for play this weekend and potentially part of next week.

How did the Nashville/middle TN courses fair with this last bunch of rain?  I haven't seen it posted or watch any news but I figured maybe Twelve Stones and Legacy might have some holes flooded.  I am not familiar enough with any of the others to know if they are flood prone or even if that area got the amount of rain we got in southern KY.

After purchasing a home site or home at the grove, how much is golf membership?  I saw on Google that it’s around 100k and 900 a month.  The place looks incredible.  Wish I had the cash to buy and join

Would be great to live on a well maintained golf course that doesn't get a ton of play like that HOWEVER they used pretty much all of the good land for homesites and, for the most part, that course is in low lying areas and fairly flat. Great conditioning but I can remember like 3 holes out there I have played there twice.

Worked in Gallatin for about two years.  There is Long Hollow and it is public.  Fun course but gets crowded.  Short length range.

I did not think that the country club there in Gallatin was 18 holes.  I never ran into anyone while working where I worked that was a member however.

How did the courses fair after the last bunch of rain and tornadoes/weather?  I was through Lebanon and into Gallatin on 109 and noticed several trees down and barn tin about.  I was actually coming up 65 at Madison when the warning was given on Saturday.

If you live close to Tennessee Grasslands (Foxland and Fairvue) I think that is a pretty good deal. They have two courses that are fairly open and fun to play and decent practice facilities.

Fair enough. The main nashville clubs are all $125k or more in initiation and probably $1500 per month so that is still a relative deal.

NGAC and Old Natchez each hovering around $35K and ~$700/monthlies. NGAC at 3 year wait and that's if you have a sponsor there. Old Natchez has a system that suggests about a year or so (plus or minus) wait currently.

Call me a wimp but NGAC is just so so hard. I don't think I would enjoy that course on a day in day out basis. Old Natchez has made some good investments into their course in the past few years but they still have a drainage problem and a ton of members playing out there. But this is the state of Nashville golf. At least there is still Harpeth Hills and the city seems to be rotating around to all the munis and upgrading them a bit which is nice.

I asked about a possible prospective member round there; response was crickets. Har! With a 3 year+ wait list you can be selective I reckon.

The Club at Five Oaks up in Lebanon was proactive in offering one. Nice! Now we just need to settle on an area acceptable to wifey and I. Kids are in Brentwood and Belle Meade.

I am in West Mead across the street from Belle Meade. Have you tried Hillwood CC? Great classic layout they redid last season.

The Nashville munis are good enough for me. I play McCabe the most, but the others are nice too. The redo of the courses is a bonus. With the yearly membership it is very cost effective and there are 7? I think courses available.  I never have trouble getting a tee time and my friends can play with no problems.

So I read a lot about Vanderbilt Legends on here, but they don't seem to score too high on rankings.  Is that a case of them not being so good, other courses just being that much better?  Just curious as I likely have an opportunity to play there.

It's an above average public golf facilty/experience masquerading as a higher-end country club.

I would play there. The course(s) are fine and they have expansive practice facilities (don't go NEAR the Vanderbilt facility though, you will be tackled). On the flipside, they have a huge membership and that place gets a ton of play which must make keeping that course up a bit of a nightmare.

It's def worth playing if you have the opportunity. It's always in good shape and the new clubhouse is nice.

Been years since I played there but course (south? the one with public play occasionally) was in great shape.  Very fast bermuda greens.  Relatively flat.  IIRC most of course is on other side of railroad tracks from the clubhouse and practice facility.

I wouldn't turn down the opportunity.

Good grief!!! In the height of summer!!! Its a shame they use all the $ from the range and put it in the general fund instead of back into the course with lower fees, better facilities and more pay for the employees. Instead, it just gets flushed into the system never to be seen again. The range at McCabe is packed every day too. I heard they are making a better range at Ted Rhoads as well and will be doing the same thing.

Need them an honor jar or something.

In other news, if you follow the nashville golf group on the facebooks, the current condition of Twelve Stones doesn't sound great.  Not good for that new ownership group as they seemed to have had stuff turned around and headed into a positive direction for that course.  Tees on certain holes have always been a  problem due to tree encroachment but the current gripe seems to be the greens.  Odd since I thought they converted to bermuda.
