Anyone else ditching sim for older driver?

Ditching the sim for my older 917 d2.   The sim head just seems too low spin for me and my height off the tee and length are down from the older titliest driver.  Anyone else experience this with the sim? Swing speed is 105-110...My longest drives have come with the sim, but my miss is too low and kills me on longer courses

Agree with @manima1. Two VERY different drivers. If you fight high spin then sim is very good. If you don't then that 917 is a very easy to hit driver.

To answer your question...no. I cracked my sim and rushed to get another one off bst because there are no more of them from TM for replacement.

SIM is it's own animal, it can be too low spin or fade biased for a lot of guys and also has a shallow face and "wooden bat" type feel. I did not like it last year and should have kept the SIM Max I was using instead, but I sold all those off and have a SIM 2 on order.

If I was being really honest with myself I would have never sold off my M5, it sounded better to me and I had more consistent performance with it.

I’m ditching my M3 for a Sim 2 Max, hoping for a bit more launch and spin. I’m a similar speed to you with a negative AOA and have come to the conclusion that the really low spin models don’t suit me. Every time I look at the sole of a Sim I have flashbacks of the SLDR.

I had a M5 that cracked and when I sent it back, I got a sim head shipped to me.  I actually prefer a fade bias, as my miss is left an normal ball flight is a draw.  I am a low spin player, so maybe the d2 is ideal for getting ball flight higher.

I tried the SIM last year and stuck with my M4, the SIM just didn't perform as well for me, maybe not enough spin?  Not sure.  Anyways, I just picked up a SIM2 head from the BST here and it's a winner, big improvement over the SIM (at least for me)  Playing it in an autoflex 505 and so far really good.

Have the OG SIM as my back up in case I crack the face on my SIM 2 which is in my bag.  SIM was low spin for me but it launched higher than what I consider optimal for me.  Don't get me wrong, I've hit some bombs with it but being 9*, it can balloon at times.  We have the Santa Ana winds to deal with so it can get very windy.  SIM 2 does spin a bit more which is why I'm currently gaming the Chrome Soft X LS to offset some of that.  It's also more forgiving than the SIM.

Nope. Ditched the SIM for a SIM2. Better launch and spin for me. I didn't get along with SIM, but I love the SIM2.

I had the SIM Max, sold it and ordered a SIM2 Max.  It won't arrive for a few weeks so I picked up a Cobra Amp Cell Pro with AD BB6S shaft for $50.  I really like the Cobra.  When the SIM2 arrives, I will throw a TM tip on the BB6 and try it in the SIM2.

My foursomes partner was fitted for a SIM in December, used it for a week then went back to his Ping K15. He normally hits his drives with the K15 very consistently with a soft cut, however the SIM was all over the place - worst I've ever seen him hit the ball.

I'd put it down as a bad fitting in all honesty, as he's tried my two Titleist drivers (917 D3 and TS4) and hits them both out of the park - In fact next time we play he's asked me to bring down the D3.

I tried the SIM when I got my TS4, performed OK, but very heavily fade biased and hated the feel. It was about 5 yards behind the TS4 and I could shape the TS4 both ways, so was a fairly easy decision for me.

I’m debating going back to an M3 or M5 from a Sim.  Played tonight and scored well but had a constant weak fade which drives me nuts with the sim.  I ordered a 14g slider weight so I’m hoping it helps, if not it’ll be on the BST.

at one point I had both sim and sim max but I 100% agree with you. M5 was my best performing driver and ive owned at least 12 TM drivers. Im on the other end and preferred the SIM sound but M5 was a better overall fit for me. Hitting fairways with the M5 was expected while the SIM was a rare occurrence and big accomplishment if I did lol

I think I'm one of the odd few that didn't like the sound of the SIM. The pitch was fine but somehow it made the face feel dead, even when I'd really connect with one. The SIM Max had a much better feel IMO.

The SIM2 feels very close to how last year's Max felt, and somewhat similar to how I remember the M5.

I'm not a feel guy, but I've had the SIM MAX and the SIM is my back up now.  SIM MAX felt more solid for me before I cracked the face.  The SIM feels different.  As you stated it feels dead.  Even my cousin who has the OG stated that he can't feel the difference between a solid strike and a toe strike.

I went back to M3 from a SIM trial last summer. All I could do with SIM was hit it to the right. Everything.  Swap shaft back into M3, BOOM, dead center again. Planning to try a SIM 2 some time soon. Won't let the M3 go until I have given anything new several months of thorough trial rounds.

My son plays the SIM 2 MAX and previously played an M2. The SIM 2 is noticeably more forgiving. We all know from numerous YouTube reviews that new drivers are maybe only 5 yrds longer than 4-5 year old drivers. We also know the main difference is the MOI. I’m thrilled to shoot 77, so I’ll take the new tech! Not too difficult to find a new head/shaft combo that works.

I've had 3 Sim heads ( 9 Deg, 10.5, Sim Max 9 deg ) and 5 different shafts and I gave up on all of them and went back to my Cobra 9 Deg F9.

I really couldn't get the consistency with the Sim and I really didn't like the feel. As you can see by trying 3 heads and 5 shafts I wanted the Sim to work but no dice for me.
