I hope I’m wrong but I think its a setup…the Chief Medical Officer has said cases have to be below 1000 for several days before the lockdown is lifted. We are still over 2000 cases….the politicians are now linking change to case numbers…There is also a 2 week lag between cases and them being reflected in reporting so the inevitable long weekend increase will only become apparent the week of June 7.
 

They will say case numbers are still too high to justify extending the measures…

I'd be willing to bet you guys are golfing by June 2nd at the latest. That is a Wednesday so i would guess the weekend before that if i had to guess. He's gonna have a mutiny if not

 

Rumor is we are opening restaurant terraces and allowing outdoor gatherings on private residences starting May 28.

 

If you guys still have outdoor sports closed and Quebec is having BBQs he might as well just resign now

I think there’s just too much push back now for the PC government to continue to dig their heels in without any evidence that outdoor activities lead to the spread of COVID.

Sounds awesome man...enjoy!!! I was hoping to do a trip to QC too, but the wife isn't supporting the idea whatsoever. So have to sit here and hope the Fat Man finally wakes up and listens to everyone in the freakin province screaming at him! 🙄

I think this time it's happening and DoFo has absolutely no choice. The PC's don't have any legitimate reason to keep them closed, and there are too many specialists, politicians (local and provincial), sporting organizations, health organizations etc lined up against them. It's just absolutely ridiculous at this point to keep digging their heels in, and they just look like total buffoons. No other option now but just get out of the way and try and take all the credit for it... 🙄

There's also talk that golf and tennis could be re-opened as early as this weekend still. DoFo has a presser tomorrow, so we'll see what he has to say to try and swoop in and clean up all the egg on his face...

I like your optimism but I'd be very surprised if they open up for this weekend.

 

Smart money is he announces next weeks opening tomorrow with some kind of BS messaging about staying home this weekend, he understands how hard it's been, it's all Trudeau's fault, etc.

No, I agree. Just posting that the rumor is out there that golf and tennis could still re-open for this weekend.

 

But I agree 100%, my money is on exactly what you said..."we're re-opening safely next Tuesday", "the vaccination rollout has been an incredible success", "stay home one more weekend" blah, blah, blah...

We should definitely meet up if we can.

 

I can host in Ottawa assuming my club is allowing guests. We didn't allow any last year and this year is still unclear.

Yeah, that’d be awesome...would love to! I’m in Barrie, just north of Toronto. In the good old days before COVID I used to travel a lot, and used to live in both Ottawa and Montreal, so lots of history/connection to both those cities.

It sucks now but things change fast. I think by July there will be no real inhibitors in terms of borders or gatherings. Should be fairly easy to set something up then. I think Ontario courses will be allowing guests by then but if not Whitlock is and i can have you guys on.

 

But again, barring some insane variant--By July this will be old news.

 

Quebec is averaging 1.5-2% positive tests now. And this is with school still on. By summer forget it. You guys are really only 3-4 weeks behind us in the grand scheme

After that was posted and I saw people posting "who carpools anymore" I one thought wow probably some drinking and driving going on and two thought of my one idiot friend who doesn't have a car but often needs a ride to golf.
