Yeah, I agree...by July or August at the latest, hopefully we’ll be getting closer to normalcy. We’ll stay in touch and figure something out for sure!

I don't , definitely. I just also don't underestimate the ego of being desperate to get re-elected. Gonna be hard to convince people all this is still needed when cases per day are 25 and there's 2 people in ICUs

 

Quebec announced their reopening plan yesterday and I would bet anyone the timetable gets accelerated. 

 

The premiers are all gonna have elections soon, they don't want to be remembered as the guy who took people's summers away

Also that course is behind an industrial area and next to a highway. So uh yeah can picture quality. Great for beginners to smack balls.

I live in Barrie...so my personal favourites here are Tangle Creek, Heritage Hills, and Simoro.
 

Thought about getting a membership to one of them this year, but luckily decided to play different courses this season and wait until next year to choose a home course.

 

What are some of your favourites out your way?

Well I guess we are back.

 

Major rust today at St Raphael. Hopefully less rusty tomorrow and Saturday.

 

Our first men's tournament is scheduled for Sunday and is on apparently. 6-6-6. There's going to be lot's of "sorry partner" on the course.

Played Tangle last year, amazing course, kicked my butt but I think the 3 hour rain delay had more to do with it. I want to go back this year if I can convince my buddies who also liked the course. I haven't played Heritage Hills or Simoro but probably should.

 

Uh in my area there isn't much, I'm surrounded by private courses with 4 that are just insane to join price wise and 2 that are more reasonable with maybe 1 that would fit my game. So I travel out of the city and seem to play Cardinal a lot in King, I know it gets a bad wrap for slow play but we never tee off after 9am or before 4pm and we don't have issues. I like Piper's Heath, that's near my office.

 

I honestly don't have a real standout, I need to play some of the nicer courses but the last 2 years have been meh for what I play and a lot of them are going downhill for various reasons.

My buddy working from home is a savior, got an early one this Sunday at Cardinal east and next Saturday at Cardinal west. 2 courses that I know fairly well so won't be so painful coming back. Will see if my 2 other buddies flop for various reasons, may have a spot for some guys in here 😉

Sounds good! Wasn’t a big fan of the East Wing Course at Cardinal (too hilly), but like the West Wing Course. Haven’t tried Piper’s Heath yet, but will give it a shot sometime.

 

Always down to get a round in and would be cool to meet some fellow WRX’rs for sure!

Haha...damn, not even a week to knock the rust off huh? Just hit some balls on my practice mat and it was a mess, Lol! One more practice session tomorrow before Cardinal West Wing Course on Saturday...can’t wait!!

I'm a bigger fan of West I did shoot my best score there but yeah East is way too brutal to start out especially with that Par 5 with your second or third shot going uphill with a massive long grass area below. 

 

I might try and squeeze on Piper during the week if anything is open.

Yeah, I’ve got nightmares about some of those uphill shots on the East Wing Course, Lol! I’m only playing that again if I can’t get a Tee time anywhere else. 
 

Heard the Redcrest Course is the best one, but haven’t tried it yet.

Oh yeah it's an awful start, my friend forgot to book carts but we assume at 725am we can grab carts.

 

Redcrest is really nice, kinda tore me apart last year but I never played it so was honestly lost and that was probably the reason. But lots of really small landing spots off the tee so you'll need to know your distances, where to land your tee shots and what to hit next. Yeah a lot of courses are like that but I haven't come across a lot of them.

Oh and BTW I may have a open spot this Sunday at Cardinal East, 725am I think it is. Two buddies flopped (idiots I know), one spot was filled, waiting to hear about the other but could be open for a WRX'er.

Yeah.

 

We started a renovation of our range/practice facilities last year and they won't be open until at least July/August so it's not like we can even get any decent practice in at the course. Plus with covid protocols we can only show up 20 min before our tee time.

 

At least we get to golf now.

For the non-Ontarians reading this thread, here's a perfect example of how stupid our guys our.

 

So they just rolled out our "three step" roadmap for opening. But wait. Step 1 isn't expected to be reached until Jun 14. So how are you allowed to golf you ask?

 

Well simple. There's a step that is called, and I kid you not this is on official government of Ontario web pages and press releases, "Before Step 1".

 

Now maybe it's the math guy in me, but that sounds an awful lot like a 4-step plan and we are currently in Step 1.

According to our 3 step program we will not be allowed indoor gatherings until AFTER when they were allowed in 2020. Despite having 50% of the province vaccinated already (and still ramping as 12-17yr olds start next week) , positivity rates under 2%, and hospitals emptying quickly.

 

I imagine they will pull in the dates.

 

However it's pretty crazy that our opening plan is more conservative than last year. All the local conspiracy theorists are doing victory laps

Yeah, I’ve learned to separate my buddies into categories. My Category 1 guys I know are addicts like me, and when I suggest a day to go out, they’ll do everything possible to make it happen.

And then there’s Category 2 that will take hours/days to get back to you, will hum & haw about dates and times, want the weather to be perfect, will only play their favourite course etc, etc.

 

Some Category 2 guys are good friends, but make crappy golfing buddies, so most times I’d rather play a solo round rather than go through the hassle of trying to convince/coordinate with the Cat 2 guys.

 

I actually played alone a lot last year just because I have a different schedule from a lot of buddies, and a lot of times I prefer playing solo anyways.

I kept hearing snippets about 3 steps and the dates didn't line up which is why I checked. I have two more days to get the game ready for Sunday.
