From Chicago and out this week for a visit. Looked at this thread and decided on Bear Dance. Thanks for the suggestion, what a nice track. Wish I had a little local knowledge on some of the driving lanes but overall really good and the pro shop is killer.

Me and a colleague are in Denver on Sunday with work and at a loose end, so we're hoping to get a game of golf in if possible. We're staying in Gaylord Rockies so Green Valley looked promising - struggling to get a tee time before 3pm though. 

 

Any locals have any suggestions on anywhere else to try, or have we left it too late? Is the Green Valley Par 3 course any good? 

 

Tried to book Green Valley earlier in the week but it didn't play nicely with non US Phone numbers (I'm flying in from the UK, my colleague from Japan).

Does anyone have a review of City Park Golf Course since its renovation?

 

I'll be in Denver for a few weeks over the summer and I want to play the new setup. It was my home course in the early 2000s so I'm looking forward to seeing the changes.

I actually never got to play the course before the renovation, but I think it's a very good course. The back 9 is very challenging, and I'm going to guess you won't even recognize the new clubhouse/restaurant.

 

The problem will be getting a tee time. The tee sheet is full every day, and the pro shop said that walk-ons even as a single is difficult.

I will be out for work in August staying at Gaylord Rockies.  I will have to Uber, so I am considering Heritage Eagle Bend, Riverdale Dunes or Commonground.  Specifically interested in thoughts about Heritage Eagle Bend.

I played Heritage Eagle Bend about three weeks ago. The greens are in good shape and are stupid fast. That said, while it's challenging the further back you tee off, the design is also pretty blah--especially compared to the other two courses you mentioned. Have you also considered Murphy Creek? The closest course to your hotel is Green Valley Ranch, which I would rank just above Heritage Eagle Bend.

Good to know!  I was mainly considering Eagle Bend due to a little more elevation change, unless I am mistaken.  We don't get much of that back home.  I am already playing GVR towards the beginning of this trip!  I will still consider Riverdale Dunes, Commonground, Murphy Creek as well as Eagle Bend.

I suppose HEB has the most elevation change of the courses mentioned, but I don't think anyone has ever mentioned that as a feature of the golf course. I'm trying to think of any nearby courses with decent elevation changes, but the closest I can come up with is Red Hawk Ridge down in Castle Rock (about 45 minutes from Gaylord if you take the toll road). There is a downhill par 4, if the wind is behind your back, where I cranked one 390 yards.
