He's making over $100M a year until at least '28, dropping $10M on a boat is nothing. But I will never understand it myself.

Have to agree, Hadjar is going to be a force.  Probably needs to work on getting his emotions in check, but I think he has a great future ahead of him in F1.

He can drive and he's fast, I think he's putting a lot of pressure on Yuki. He had a rough start, but he's recovered nicely.

Went to see Mission Impossible and saw the long preview for the Pitt F1 movie. Looks like it could b quite good!

They said the upkeep is $1M/yr but again, if you're making $100M - thats nothing.

 

Finally watched The Seat on Netflix - I'd give it 4.5 stars. It was prety interesting but short enough that you dont get dragged into something you need to dedicated actual time to. F1 Academy was also pretty good, 4 start. I knew virtually nothing about it so I found the background behind a lot of it pretty interesting. We think there are whacko helicopter parents in golf, yeesh.

Also if you havent watched their Nascar show, its pretty legit. Even though I grew up working at a track, I dont watch one minute anymore - but thats why the show is perfect. Its five episodes, covers the playoffs only and saves you from watching the whole season lol.

 

I mean just catch the first 4 minutes of S2, E1 - Netflix has this down.

Friend of mine and her fam were already gonna be in Spain. They are big F1 fans so decided do get GA tix for the Spanish GP.  $300 per ticket. She said the experience was awful. Left their hotel at 5am to get in line. Gates open and people sprint to get a spot. (Reminded me of the WM) Apparently they aren’t “runners” so ended up in a less than desirable spot crammed in like sardines. 
Going forward she said all their viewing will be done via TV 📺

I watched the first 2 of this year and learned Suarez is dating Max's girlfriend's sister. She seems way more nuts, too. 🤣 

 

I've never paid attention to NASCAR before, so I only know a few of the drivers.

She must have purchased GA tickets rather than grand stand tickets.  If you buy GS tickets you have a reserved seat.  While I’m a big F1 fan, I’d never go to one live, but my brother has done the Austin race twice, with reserved spots.  It’s stupid expensive and you don’t get the view you get on TV, but he likes being there.  I spend a couple decades at the track; don’t have the desire to go there anymore.

I love going to my local SCCA Regional races. $25, 7 race groups, 14 races. Usually only a couple hundred spectators. I live an hour from Lime Rock. Great spectator track, but I have no interest in going to a major race again.

I'm only 45 minutes from PIR but they only do Indy and a few others. I do enjoy the Wednesday Cruise In, though. When I had friends that did SCCA, I would go in support. 

 

When I had the Corvette, we could park on the grass with the cool kids. 🤣

When I lived in Portland, 1979, there was a regional SCCA type of organization that ran amateur racing at PIR. My boss' friend had an original Mini Cooper. Great racing.

I wouldnt expect any of these races to have really good GA sections so I wont hold that against it. But the lining up/shuttle thing, sounds normal to me. Sounds exactly like what the Ryder Cup in Rome was like - only so many options they have to handle massive amounts of people at places in the middle of nowhere. But when the gates open - you either run or you dont.

Yeah indeed. And she and her husband have been to F1 w/reserved seating and it was obviously a better experience. But it was a big group and reserved were stupid pricey. So they took a swing. 
Iv’e gotten to the point where I turn down almost any tix even if they are complimentary.
The at home experience is just too good w/o the headache.

I just can't get into ovals. Road courses, sure. But 500 laps in a circle? Nope. 

 

He's going to stay in Indy where he's winning vs going to F1 and getting lost in the midfield. He's doing damn well.

Don’s sleep on a live NHRA event. 11k HP that vibrates one’s innards! 
And watching them rebuild the power plants between rounds is pretty cool. 
Overall a cool experience ppl should experience at least once IMO.

I lived in Woodburn for a couple of years and enjoyed watching the drag races there. There are also Wednesday night drags at PIR during the cruise in that is always fun to watch. 

 

Last time out they were running 2 stroke snowmobiles on the 1/8 mile, that was nutty. 🤣

One of my former coworkes did a little drag racing on the weekends. We were at this house and he opened the trailer and fired it up. The men flocked. I'll never forget how my chest rattled when he rev'd

You could see him getting frustrated and I had a feeling he was going to make a mistake (he tends to do that under pressure). It was unfortunate, but at least he didn't take them both out. 

 

But you know when he looked at the video he felt even worse. Oscar didn't even move, there was clearly no gap there.
