I mean, in some ways I get what youre saying, though who saw HAM to Ferrari?!? I thought he’d be Mb 4 life, and after VET won his championships with RB, I didn’t see him leaving. Thought they’d both retire first!

If you have an opportunity to wear red as a racing driver, you take it. What's kind of both funny and sad was they both moved post peak, so Ferrari didn't get the best years out of either. But Ferrari did make a boat load of cash from signing both, so from a business perspective it makes sense. 

 

I was actually more surprised that Ferrari signed Hamilton than I was that Hamilton was going to Ferrari.

Dude, he's had over 200 Grand Prix races before he finally got a podium. That's a record that won't ever be broken but at least he got 1 now. He might get another before he retires, but at least he has 1 now.

I get that. Still looks/feels so odd to me. And is there another bigish sport where 3rd place is celebrated???

Any sport if you had 238 starts without a podium, you are going to celebrate like it's a win. There will never be another on the grid for over 200 races without a podium, that won't happen again. 

 

Hell, we've had drivers lose a seat after 3 races. 🤣

But 238 is a hell of a lot more than a few Olympics. You would need to compete at least 50 times per to even come close. Every 4 years would suck to wait out, but he's been in F1 since Max was Pre-K. 🤣

Yeah Olympics only 4 years so doing the best I can with what I have to work with for a comparo!

If you are always on a back marker team, your chances are pretty slim. It took bad weather and perfect tire strategy to pull it off this time. 

 

He might be better off next year with Audi and new regulations, but this might be his only shot. At least he finally got a 3rd place. That's a trophy he will cherish for sure.

I just feel bad for the guy. I think it was last year he set the new record and that's just heartbreaking. He's always been a great driver, he's just never had much of a car. He still doesn't, but he made it work. 

 

The fact he held off Lewis was extra special considering he's been on the podium at Silverstone for over 2 decades. 🤣

Yeah, she's damn hot, too and he's done well for himself for sure. But NOBODY wants to be known as the guy with the most starts without a podium. It certainly would have been worse had he retired without one, but ain't nobody breaking that record. At least he finally got one, though.

He also started 19, so it was a mega drive in sketchy conditions. His wife is damn hot, though. I'm sure he would live a pretty full life without a podium, but this does make it a bit easier.

What's interesting is with Max out of the title fight, his only motivation is to snag a win from McLaren. So now he will fight even harder. He just lost 2 points off his license, too. It could get heated..
