LPGA Morgan Pressel as commentator

At least she's literate. For example, she seems to know how to conjugate a verb and the difference between an adjective and an adverb. The same cannot be said for Azinger.

The drive home is either Sirius XM NFL Radio or PGA Tour radio.  The first few times I listened, it was an immediate channel flip.  However, lately she's become a bit more factual with some good content, so she gets a bit of a listen.

At least she has a better grasp of facts and culture than Trish Johnson who on the UK commentary for R2 of the PGA called Leona Maguire 'British'.

Pretty much. She hasn't teed it up since April 2021.

Ok. I've read a lot of commentary regarding Morgan's dress, voice and expertise.

1. I believe she is one of the best in analysis of pre and post shot and swing abnormality. 

2. Don't care about her attire. Besides, in regards to hair, how does one wear a head set with some freekin bouffant?

3. Yes. Her voice is on par with Andrews. 😖. "Blackboard scratch cringe." However, my wife and I noted she wasn't as bad during this PGA broadcast. Perhaps she is taking elocution lessions. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I particularly enjoyed Morgan's commentary this weekend, if mostly because when she was talking it meant that Dan Hicks wasn't talking.  I really wanted Dan Hicks to stop talking.

I realize that technically he's a more senior announcer, a bigger deal and no stranger to the LPGA, but it just seems a bit out of place.  It's like a stranger at a family dinner or those improv shows bringing in a guest who is a bigger star but not as used to that particular format.  Perhaps I'm wrong but it seemed like he mispronounced or misidentified a player or two.   Didn't they used to use Terry Gannon on the LPGA relatively recently too but haven't lately??

I find Morgan Pressels voice is grating/annoying and her commentary lessens the enjoyment of watching a tournament. Occasional silence is better than non stop babble.

Her high screeahing voice is a turn off.  She uses 100 words to say what other announcers say in 20 words.  I get upset when I see her on the telecast. The first 2 rounds of the women’s open were a joy because Paige was on the telecast.  Judy Rankin was my favorite announcer for the women’s game. Now I’m forced to turn the sound off if Morgan is on the telecast.  What a shame.

She is overenthusiastic, and lives by the motto ‘why use 5 words when 50 will do?’ I thought this would improve with some experience, but she seems the same now as when she started. 
 

Her biggest issue is having to follow one of, if not the best to ever do it. Judy Rankin was so good. Wish she’d worked ALL golf.

You guys are spot on, she just babbles and babbles. Jeez, take a breath every now and then. She is even more annoying than Azinger and that's hard to do.

Don’t hate her, don’t love her. I’m indifferent on her just like with all the other golf commentators. I really barely notice any of em and therefore have never been bothered or annoyed by any of ‘em. Honestly still get a bit surprised when I read how bothered some get from certain commentators. Perhaps just a symptom of underlying issues???

Morgan's voice is beyond annoying....and she has never....not once....ever worn an outfit that didn't look like it came straight from a 75 year old women's closet.  Can someone PLEASE help this girl pick out some fashionable clothes!!!  I think MIchelle Wie has been EXCELLENT, the few times I've heard her spending time in a booth.  BTW, if Annika ever gets ANY job in a booth, it will suddenly make Morgan's voice sound awesome....never cared for her, or her act.

These days 75 yo women dress much classier than the younger ones. Just one man’s opinion

Not being able to speak in a concise and mellifluous manner would seem to be a basic requirement for someone hired as a network announcer. In the case of Morgan (unfortunately, because I quite liked her as a competitor) or Paige (whose presence on TV has always been a mystery due to her nails-on-a-blackboard way of talking), both seem to lack that talent. To not have that ability is like hiring someone to be a flying instructor who doesn't know how to fly a plane. That isn't anything to do with "underlying issues".

 

While I also shake my head at the legions here who think that even the most highly-regarded network announcers are incompetent/awful/unlistenable, your comments go to the opposite extreme and are just about as silly. "I barely notice any of em"? Do you have the sound turned off? Perhaps if that is true you should not comment on them in that case.

I'm not a Pressel fan--I find her voice to be grating and her commentary to be somewhat devoid of insight. But I think she is trying really hard, and she will get better with some experience and coaching. In the end, I ask myself: how would I want people to react to her if she were my daughter. So I give her a break.

Every time I check into this thread I'm shocked at the amount of vitriol from a bunch of middle aged + men towards a female golf announcer. Undoubtedly guys who would consider themselves good people. There's a few recent joiners whose first and only post is to crap in a golf announcer.

She's terrible man.  Doesn't matter how old or how many posts the joiner had Voice is annoying and never shuts up.  Over analyzes everything.  I want to watch the rest of this but I can't  take it anymore
