Been finding these a lot lately...

When I find multiple balls on the course of the same model and that ball isn't a common ball I usually find I always think it's one person playing them and some poor guy is losing alot of his balls on the course.

Once day recently I was finding  Callaway balls with Clovers all over the ball. I wasn't looking for balls I just happened to find them while playing. I picked up 7 of them. When I got done my round I was in the parking lot loading up and these younger guys were loading up beside me. I asked them if they had a good time out on the course. The one guys says yes he did but he lost alot of balls. He mentions those Clovers didn't bring him good luck. I laughed and said here I found 7 of them if you want them back. He said no I found them, I could keep them.

A guy I know lives adjacent to the course. One evening his wife went out for a walk and brought home four Pro V1's she found. She said, "Isn't this the brand you play?". He looked and sure enough three of the four had his mark on them.

P.S. I'm assuming her walk was on the left side of the course. We don't call this guy "Hookin' Jay" for nothing!

If the pro v1 is the most played ball in golf it would make sense it's the most lost ball in golf.

I could play pro v1 balls all year and never buy one. I always seem to find 1 or 2 every time I play.

I've got a few ProV1s in my bag, and I've gamed them on occasion. Didn't notice any improvements in my game playing them. Guess I suck no matter what ball I play!

The only difference I notice is they seem  firmer than the Srixon and chrome soft I play. I've got friends that only play pro v1 so I

give them to them. Performance wise I can't tell a difference.

Happy Father's Day to me - a dozen on the way!  Now someone can find mine, haha, and think, "where have I heard of these?"

Those definitely have the cool factor. Let us know how they play when you get them. You might need to get some Sans A Belts and an alpaca cardigan.

Been finding a bit more of a mix on my home course, some Srixon, some Titleist (not really many pro v1s), very slight majority would be k sigs, but it's fairly close to a Costco.

Oddly enough I also find a lot of my own. Not surprised considering there are well over 100 out there since last summer.

It seems like the one brand of golf ball I've been finding a lot lately has been Titleist Pro V1. A number of high handicappers have been seduced by the marketing for these balls and as a result the rough and bushes are full of them. Has anyone else noticed this and what's the most common brand of ball you find at your course?

Depends on the course I play. Play a neighborhood muni and it's all Pinnacles and Top Flites. Played one of Michigan's best courses last week and found nothing but premium balls

In the fall I will find some balls.

This time of year I don’t even look for any of mine that go in the bush because it is thick, gnarly, and full of wild rose thorn bushes, low bushes, spruce and poplar trees, hidden holes and deadfalls. There are a few places that are open enough to look but not many.

I would have to dress appropriately and dedicate time to walk, searching for balls. Nyet.

I finally found a Pro V1 and it's hashed. But it still seems to play ok. I have hit it a half dozen times or so, haven't lost it yet.

About half the balls I find are Titleist, about half of those are Pro V. I find so many balls that I hit found balls on my course range to warm up before a round.  A lot of us do. As a result most of the range balls are actually retail balls. I used to play found Pro V almost exclusively, but I've switched to Callaway Supersoft. I find plenty of those too.

  • 2 weeks later...

I find a lot of Tour Soft, Vice and shiny Yellow SuperSoft's at my most frequented course. Especially after a busy weekend.

It's a fairly difficult course if you're not straight.

During the week it's ProV's, Chrome Soft, and TP5/5x and Bstones of all lines.

There's a member who plays the True Soft that must loose 6-7 balls a round......

On that note, I was playing at a course I'd never played before, even though it was only one town away from home. I hit a ball to the right hand rough. One of my foursome found a ball with my mark on it, a big letter B in magic marker. I looked at it and it was my ball, but not the one I'd just hit, which I found ten feet away. This second ball is one that I must have lost at my home course, it was found by someone else, and that someone lost it at this course. That made at least three times it had been lost and found, because I didn't originally buy it, I originally found it.

I got a skull and crossbones stamp off wish and have stamped a ton of my balls. Waiting to re-find one of those.

Depends on what course im playing. My uncle is a member at a pretty wealthy CC and when I go play with him ill find at least a dozen (usually 2) ProVs with the CC name stamped on the side of them. That's the only balls they sell in the clubhouse and there are PILES of them in certain common miss areas. Lucky for me thats the ball I play as well.

I would say leave it there. I don’t want a ball that likes being lost that much.

I don't blame the ball. How would you like getting smacked upside the head every three minutes for four hours? I'd hide too.
