8 Days at Bandon....Trip Review...."I Got Bandoned"

Day 7

We ended up playing 36 holes again and started it off at Bandon Dunes in the morning and Bandon Trails in the afternoon.  Both courses are in amazing shape you we ended the last day with a bang by playing these courses

 

Final Trip Stats

-I played 261 holes in 7 days.

-I played Sheep Ranch 4 times, Pac Dunes 3 times, Bandon Dunes 3 times, Bandon Trails twice and Old Mac twice.  I also played the preserve 2 times.

-I Had 31 birdies (played closer tees) and 2 eagles so I made sure I had a blast.  The one thing as time went on I realized you have to roll the ball at Bandon and if you do then you have a chance to make a lot of putts

 

Ranking the Courses....(This is really tough

1.  Bandon Trails - Its the best walk and an amazing track.  Its also nice to be out of the wind

2.  Bandon Dunes - Wide fairways make this course playable and it has some of the best holes on the property

3.  Pac Dunes - Amazing course that is really tough especially in the wind.  I can easily see why its ranked so hard.

4.  Sheep Ranch - This course is so good it could easily be my # 1......crazy views and scoreable

5.  Old Mac - A great track and its as good as any course at Bandon

 

Things I learned for the next time we go...

-Take a caddie no matter what.....they are worth every penny

-Playing with random people is great....everyone at the resort is awesome so I was there 3 days by myself prior to my buddies getting there and I made some friends in each round that are still texting 

 

 

I have a few pics of my favorite benches in Bandon and some clubhouse and practice center pics I will share later

@BG5 Did you stay on property on those first 3 days you were solo?  I've been wanting to do Bandon for a long time and this week I checked to see if an August solo trip was possible.  On-property lodging is booked through October 2022 (ugh), so I was wondering if you had experience staying off property.  And if so, how hard was it to get tee times?  Did you book those times while you were there or within 3 weeks of arriving?

 

Btw, I loved reading your write-up - definitely the most comprehensive post I've seen so far.  Thanks for sharing your experience!

My first night I stayed at the Lamplighter Inn in Bandon....Great place to stay and it was like $100 a night.  I also heard the Bandon Inn is great.  As a single you will not have an issue getting tee times.  There are plenty of options for singles so I might go again in August because of the flexibility.  The rest of the time I stayed at Bandon but staying offsite is not a big deal.  They are building more lodging right now off the Trails Course.

I am a HUGE LINKS fan 🙂  The truth is that the rankings could easily change each time I played a course.  For instance the first time we played OLD Mac it was at the top of rankings as were the other courses.  Its crazy that the golf is just that good that any of the courses could go to # 1 at any time and I am sure my rankings will change multiple times over the years.  Bandon is a speacial place and I had no idea how good the golf would be.  It was way better than I thought it could be....unreal

I took a few Pics Of Pac Dunes Clubhouse....they are not the best but will give you a rough idea.  The punchbowl is located at Pac and so is the practice putting green.

I also snapped a few shots of the Bandon Trails Clubhouse.  It also has a great feel and is located right at holes #1 and #18 on Trails along with the par 3 preserve

Bandon Dunes is located at the Main Lodge so most dont consider it to have a clubhouse but the bar/restuarant along with McKees is all right there so its a great place to hang out.  THe pics dont do it justice.  The pic with the ball in it is an eagle attempt (which I made) on hole #9 on Bandon Dunes.  The Lodge is in the background

Lastly, I was amazed at the amount of deer, turkeys, and other wildlife that was on almost every hole.  These animals were not even scared of humans....pretty cool

Sadly, I had some great photos of Sheep Ranch Clubhouse and patio as its amazing but they got deleted 😞  I will post some more pics later of the practice facility and a few of my favorite benches to catch a good view
