Best iron fitter in Southern Oregon / Rogue Valley?

I don't think this is quite the right place for this but also I don't think there's anywhere better. I'm considering getting fit for irons as I'm 6'4" and swing very fast so I think there's probably some optimization to be done as far as consistency on my irons coming from standard length and lie.

Does anybody on WRX know if somebody down in Southern Oregon is a solid fitter? I can't find anything good after a bunch of searching but have got to believe somebody down here knows what they're doing without me having to drive 4 hours to Portland.

You can try Fiddler's in Eugene.

The pro at Oak Knoll in Ashland is an old friend of mine. His name is Patrick Oropallo. I don't know if he does fittings, but he's an honest guy and he'll steer you in the right direction.

I was thinking potentially Fiddler's as its only a 2.5 hour drive or so, still a lot of driving in one day just for a quick fitting. Pumpkin even further at 5 hour drive, I'm specifically trying to avoid the Portland area.

Not a lot of golf enterprise down in Southern Oregon unfortunately, requires a bit of a drive to get to any decent golf store.

There used to be a really good golf store in Medford. It was ran by the Couch, or was it Crouch, family and it was somewhat close to Cedar Links. Sadly Cedar Links closed, too. What's the store on McAndrews like? RVCC used to have a big selection of clubs. They may fit clubs, but it may be members only or more expensive for somebody who isn't a member.

I still say you should call Patrick....;)

I found out that Southern Oregon Golf Academy does full fittings at Centennial with a bunch of master fitters so I am good to go! Got one scheduled and hoping I get fit into the ZX7s :^)

What store you talking about? I was under the impression there wasn't a golf store down here and couldn't find one. Can you send me a link if you're seeing one?

Looks like it went belly up. That's too bad. Medford used to have a Golf USA, Nevada Bobs and the private place I mentioned above. There was a place inside the mall as well. Looks like it's just Dick's Sporting Goods these days.

Yeah that's been my experience 😞 The golf scene down here is fine but a bit disappointing. Mostly 9 hole courses with the only country club being RVCC. I was just on the precipice of joining a week or two ago but frankly the course just isn't a kind of course to demand the dues they're asking of a 27 year old. Over double what Columbia Edgewater wanted to charge me when I lived in Portland. Supply and demand in the area I suppose

RVCC has always charged a lot. Centennial is good. Eagle Point is good. Stoneridge used to be good, too, but they've had a few cheap owners. Do you know how it is these days? I read they have, yet, another new owner. The layout is good, but the maintenance hasn't been the same since it opened back in 1997.

Stone Ridge is actually the only course in the metro area that I haven't played, played Eagle Point not that long back and it was pretty solid, not my type of course though it ate me alive a little bit.

I think for somebody who wants to play a lot of golf out here, the Centennial President's Club is the play, for my age its like $160 a month for unlimited golf at Centennial and Quail Point. Sounds like they've got a 20+ person waiting list though lol.. No clue how long that'll take to clear

Are you stuck having to pay for all 12 months? Medford is foggier than hell in the winter. Quail Point is an interesting place. The old foggies who live on the course think they own it. I had a guy yell at me about slow play. We were on #9 (par 3) and he wanted me to hit. There was a three-some on the green and I yelled back at him about being patient. His wife literally clapped while she laughed and told her hubby to shut up.

Yeah it would a year commitment I think. I am hoping to struggle bus and play pretty consistently through the winter cause I'm happy with wind, rain, and cold. But I was unaware that fog would be an issue, will be interesting to see how that works out
