I ordered from Dicks on 7/12 and haven't heard anything.  I called them yesterday and the gal said they haven't received their shipment yet.

Does anyone have an idea how many total units Garmin has to divvy out?

I'm a Rain or Shine pre-orderer and am curious since I'm probably going to be waiting a few weeks.

Just got a UPS tracker from RainorShine late last night and I ordered on 7/7. Now it's just a shipping label but I would assume it's going out today, tomorrow at the latest.

Man, some of that club data is waaaaay off.  Spin off by 3k on some shots.  I guess you can't expect it to match an $18k unit.  But, I don't know how you can trust that kind of data.

And to add to that.  The club path is terrible.  I think it could be a good device to get SOME feedback on ball speed and carry.  But, definitely not something I see being beneficial to build a swing on with those kind of readings.  Hopefully they improve on it through software updates or something.

If spin and club path aren't accurate and reliable, I'm wondering if I'm better off buying a used SC300i and saving $250+

What's the point of Garmin Mario Golf if the unit doesn't even have me on the correct side of the fairway?

agreed, if Spin and Path aren't accurate or reliable, then I may have just made a $600 mistake 😞     My unit will be in tomorrow, as with most things, I will wait and judge for myself before getting too upset.

This is why Rick is “still testing” even after having the unit 3 weeks (or more).

I think it would be really difficult for a $600 unit to compare equally to an $18k unit. Looking at the review a lot of numbers were close and a number were off. The more important question is how the Garmin compares to other devices in that price range.

If we all had thousands to spend on this device we most likely would not be getting the Garmin

Based on that testing, the Garmin looks hopeless at determining the spin axis.
Keeps detected draw spin as fade spin.

If it's that bad, no way am I purchasing.

Wonder if a certain golf ball will help with detecting spin axis? Like the Truvis balls?

Actually i look at that and am encouraged… spin is determined by a formula, and its radar inside, so you are fooling yourselves if you expect it to hang with a quad. But the path was CONSISTENTLY left of the quad the whole video, so that tells me something was wrong with the setup. I even think the quad might have been off… the setup that is…the path looked out to in to me, and he was pulling shots (that he was calling a baby draw).  If it was 10 left and then 10 right, randomly, thats a bigger issue… i think maybe using this at a range a few times to properly set it up for maximize accuracy will be needed.

But that device will likely be 3000+ dollars right?  That's an entirely different market and a little unfair to R10.  I'd like to see more comparisons to, say, the Mevo+, and I think it would compare pretty favorably to it.

As someone else said, tool vs toy.

Also having a unit on the side of the ball (vs 8ft behind) would save me a ton of space

Oh come now calling this a 600 dollar toy is extremely unfair.  Even if the algorithm is off or the device is misaligned (hard to say at this point, more folks need it in hand), that's something that can be corrected.  It's not as good as a 3000 or 20000 dollar device and that's perfectly fine!

The space thing is totally valid though - you need, what, like 20 feet for a doppler system to work properly indoors?  That's a luxury not everyone has and something like a Skytrak helps on that tremendously.

The potential for the R10 to be a game changer is there. I have no doubt after a few firmware versions this will be a really slick device. As soon as the spin axis calc is refined the product will be really sharp. My gut says they rushed launch to beat Bushnell/Foresight to market but pulled the trigger 1-2 months early. I could be wrong, and I'm definitely excited to watch how the R10 matures.

Improving the spin axis with woods would seem very challenging as the R10 does not measure spin or account for gear affect.  I would like to think Garmin has a plan to address this issue - which must of been anticipated. Just don't see how without measuring spin.

That said if the path, club face and AoA numbers can be improved, then I would actually consider this but the tolerances have to be within the specs listed.  If the Bushnell / Foresight PLM has these numbers as accurately or almost as accurately as the quad then its a worth wild investment.  I fear that club data like path, face and AoA will be extra $$.

Got mine last Friday. Went out today and could only get 3 shots to read out of over 100. Likely user error on my part, but was a little annoyed. Hopefully I can get this figured out this weekend.

That was my thought too, seems like the Garmin was misaligned by 4-6 degrees relative to the GCQuad.
