Zx5 distances

Just got my zx5 irons with 120 $tapers. I was pretty surprised to find out I’m about a club shorter with the zx5’s. Coming from 718 Ap2’s with amt tour white.  I’m hitting the zx5’s straighter and my front to back dispersion on mis-hits is drastically better. 
 

It sounded like everyone thought these were rocket launchers.  Anyone else lose some yardage with these?

I didn't lose yardage, but I did not gain yardage.   This is a loft for loft with the exact same shafts.

 

My sample size is small and it is a ZX7 5 iron versus and ZX5 5 iron.  You changed heads/shafts/and possibly lofts.

ZX5 'S with rifle 6.0 i would say 5 yds more than my miz hmp but nothing crazy ,i will say this they are very ez to hit even on my not so great swings still produce playable shots

With my ZX5's with each iron my yardage is so consistent as I have a pretty good idea how far each iron will go as these are a good club longer than my last set. Lofts I know is stronger but talk about consistency and forgiveness WOW...Love em

I am having a similar experience with my ZX5s, my carry distance is within 3 yards of my number on 70-80% of my approach shots.

 

As for being longer than a previous set, I am definitely experiencing that. I ordered mine 2 degrees weak and still had a 5 yard increase in distance over my 585s with standard lofts.  As my confidence in them has grown, I'm now a full club longer pretty much across the board, with 4 iron being the exception simply due to not a high enough launch as the ball speed is up on the ZX5s over the 585s.

I’m seeing the same thing on my carry distance. I can’t believe how consistent I am with these. I have a sim at home and hit 60 balls with a 6 iron yesterday.. I’ve never had a cluster like that with my Ap2’s. 
 

Maybe my yardages were longer from my Ap2’s  getting bent over the years.. I never checked lofts on either set 🤷‍♂️

No, if anything I am seeing about 5-7 increase in carry distance, loft-for-loft. Were you fit for this club/shaft combo and now seeing on course results you did not see during the fitting?

I bent mine 1 weak and I picked up around the same

Something isn't right. Stock 7 iron vs 7 iron, the zx5's are at 31* vs the 718 AP2 at 34*. I'd expect the zx5's to give you longer carry/lower spin, all else equal.

I was fitted and I’m hitting them great. I was just surprised I lost a little distance. I swing my 6 iron about 96mph so I really don’t mind the loss in distance. I’m guessing that by hitting the ground on shots over the years, my lifts got stronger on my old clubs.

i have heard from many people the S taper 120 is a very unique application and many have a hard time with these......

And the pw is 44° vs 46° but I lost 6ish yards

Did you see the same results when hitting the zx5 combo vs your Ap2's in the fitting?

I don’t really remember yardages.. the focus was all about dispersion.

Went from z765s to Zx5s. Stronger lofts so further distances.  Really enjoy playing these, regardless of the distance increase!

Maybe I need to check the specs of my zx5’s. I got a zx4 4 iron and my zx5 5 iron is pretty close to the same distance.. same shaft in both.

Went to ZX5s with C Taper Lites from PXG 0311 Gen 1 with C Tapers and have the same distances.  I expected my distances to be less with the Srixons than the PXGs, but seeing the same yardages.  Really nice irons.  Very predictable, which is what I want in an iron.

Definitely did not lose distance with the zx5 in 4-6 irons, coming from slightly stronger lofted SGI. Whenever I hit one my buddies invariably comment that they launch high and deep. No flyers or issues holding greens however. Love them!

Fitted into the ZX-5 with Recoil 95 shaft and gained a full club over my Ping I-500's with Modus 105 shafts. Same lofts on each iron but the Recoils and the Srixon heads are giving me higher launch resulting in longer yardage gains. Also coming in higher they hold the green much better than the I-500's. I do believe a lot of the gain is the slightly lighter Recoil graphite shaft.
