But can it connect to a BLM? From what I can tell the answer is no - so I am wondering what additional information you have here? Thanks.

Since I use the iOS version of the App with an unlocked BLP, I guess I can’t say for sure the Android version works with a subscription BLP.

Foresight App will connect to BLP.  I was able to connect the iOS version to my BLP.  It’s very basic and seems buggy, but does work if you just want data numbers.

Very interesting. Do you have one of the several SW subscriptions?  The info that i have implies that as a requirement and that it is IOS only. But i am hardly positive here. dave

I can look into this. I have a GC3 and find it a little annoying I have to bring an iPad to get certain data.

Thanks! I would appreciate that.

ps. But it probably does not matter in my case. That $500/year subscription fee (I assume that it would still be required) is probably a showstopper for my use case.

I’m not totally sure but if you have an FSX live login and your serial number you’ll be able to set it up. IMG_7292.jpeg.b6130b493dc7fcd5b13f7f55b9be35dc.jpeg

Not sure if this is what is being asked, but I usually use the Foresight App on my iPhone.  My son has a Samsung Galaxy phone, and I just downloaded the app on there and it connects to the BLP just fine.  Maybe that will help!  This is the app that comes with the $500/year fee I believe.

Has anyone ever tried to create or seen a skin that you can put on your BLP? I would like yo spruce mine up a bit and wanted to see if anyone has ever seen on. If not, I’m going to try to create my own.

I need one too since sometimes my son (maybe dad, too….) seems to find el hosel…..

I just noticed both versions of the Launch Pro are out of stock on their website.  Any information on whether they're killing off Launch Pro now that they released GC3S?

The Launch Pro as we know it is no longer in the product line. The closest thing is the Bushnell LPi (which really isn't that close).

Is anyone having range issue when connected to the foresight app with the BLP via Bluetooth?  I can connect just fine, but once I move my phone more than two feet away from the device the connect drops.  I was trying to setup the mybag feature but just gave up out of frustration.  I was hoping Foresight had finally figured an app out.

I've been a longtime BLP user and am fortunate to have a buddy with a Trackman. Right now, I'm working on building my shot patterns and gapping all my clubs. I wanted to share some data that I think will help us all better understand accuracy and margins.

The Setup

I'm hitting indoors on a 3-foot Fiberbuilt Grass Panel. For accuracy, I'm using the 2023 Titleist Pro V1 RCT ball. To ensure proper alignment, I use a tape measure and laser, getting everything as precise as possible—though there may be up to a 0.5° variance. I also use the Trackman camera to align with the alignment rod, making this process tedious but necessary for an accurate comparison.

Since I'm indoors, my setup includes:

  • 7 feet from the Trackman to the ball
  • 11 feet from the ball to the screen

For irons, this should provide accurate readings.

IMG_5308.jpg.cb9b056a345cfdb315aadb8ec7dc84ce.jpg

The Process

The process is simple: I hit as many stock shots as possible with each iron. It's February, and since I live in the Midwest, I'm a bit rusty. My goal is to conduct a comprehensive test, hitting a minimum of 50 shots per club and gathering data for every club in my bag. All data is normalized at sea level.

The Outcome

In the image below:

  • Red represents Trackman data
  • Black represents BLP data
  • Differences between the two are shown for each measurement

image.png.f8fd7be47c58f3e2ed893cf8a1b340ad.png

image.png.5bedd97cfc5cc6c2caaf2addfe2506fb.png

The Good

  • Ball Speed
  • Carry Distance
  • Angle of Attack
  • Spin Rate

With spin rate averaging only ~100 RPMs off and carry distance within 1 yard, I feel confident trusting this data for dialing in my carry distances on the course.

The Consistent

  • Club Speed
  • Launch Angle

Although the numbers don't match exactly (likely due to different measurement methods), they are incredibly consistent:

  • Club speed was consistently off by ~4.5 MPH
  • Launch angle was consistently off by ~2.5°

I’m not sure which is more accurate, but since they're consistently different, it’s easy to adjust accordingly.

The Bad

  • Offline
  • Club Path

While not wildly off, these numbers were inconsistent enough to make it difficult to determine which one to trust.

I was especially curious about club path, as I’ve always felt BLP gave high in-to-out numbers. I know Foresight measures this differently, so I wanted to identify a pattern for adjustment. However, the difference ranged from 2° to 5.5° depending on the swing, making it difficult to trust.

Since I tend to overdraw the ball, I’ve been working on neutralizing my path this year. But without a consistent pattern, I’m not sure how much I can rely on club path data.

The WTF?

  • Spin Axis

This one has me scratching my head. Over 40% of shots registered different curvatures.

Example:

  • Trackman reads my swing as 1° in-to-out with a 1° open face, resulting in a slight push cut that lands 5-10 yards right.
  • BLP, however, might read my path as 5° in-to-out and register a draw that ends up in the same place.

While the shots may end up near each other on the grid, they get there in drastically different ways.

Maybe this was just an off day, but the ball curve indoors is something I need to trust—and right now, I can’t.

What’s Next?

I’m planning a larger test, hitting a minimum of 50 shots per club from 60° wedge to 3-iron. This will likely take me a week or two since I want to ensure fresh, high-quality swings rather than fatigued ones.

I’d be interested in testing them outside. I know trackman has had issues with gear effect and spin axis. I have had the same issue with foresight and the in to out path readings, I think it measures path when ball is fully compressed and trackman is at initial impact. Crazy to see the difference in club head speed but ball speed is similar.

I’m good with whatever reading as long as it’s consistent and I know if I need to adjust or not. It’s the inconsistent readings that make it impossible

@CardsChamps11 Thanks for doing this. It is very interesting.

I know that Trackman is kind of a gold standard, but I have also read that (as @collje26 said) it has trouble with spin axis and the gear effect. If gear effect is affecting the 'measured' spin axis, this I don't see how Trackman is measuring spin. Spin axis is a ball measurement (gear affect affects spin but should not matter if you are measuring the ball).  I have no Trackman experience but as I understand things, some of the models were really designed to track the entire ball flight. I wonder how good a 'gold standard' the Trackman is in all cases. Which model were you using?

I’m not sure if the foresight is inconsistent, if the trackman isn’t measuring spin axis correct due to gear effect it’s going to also throw the “offline” reading off as well. I’m bias as I have a GC3 but I’m looking forward to following in your findings. I’d be curious on testing both outdoors with no or minimal wind and see if trackman and foresight aren’t more similar on offline and spin axis.

The thing about spin axis is that they give opposite readings on curve but in general are coming down in similar spots. I would think trackman would read face angle and face to path at impact which would determine spin axis.  I don’t think that would change by going outdoors. I also think hitting irons which have slower ball speed should be fairly easy to read indoors especially with RCT balls.

Should help and you would be correct since there isn’t that much gear effect on irons but if the numbers on a trackman are italicized it’s a guess.
