Changes are minor. We implemented a new accelerometer so there are a number of changes to that. Not relevant for your unit. We also consolidated the splash screen you get if your battery is not calibrated. Other than that we updated the light to sync with the device status better and you should not get a blinking green/blue light until the unit is actually ready to hit shots. We didn't touch anything that should affect shot tracking.

I just picked up a new Bushnell Launch Pro (from Dick's Sporting Goods). I have a question about registration and the piddly 14 day free trial of club data and the Gold Subscription. When does the 14 days start? From what I can tell you have to set up an FSX account to register the device (I have not yet registered the device). Does the registration kick off the 14 days? I did not receive any club stickers (just the bi-fold thing that should have contained them) plus I am having some oddball appearing battery behavior that makes me suspicious that there is a battery problem (but I have only owned the device for 8 hours..). I don't want my 14 days to start before I have a functioning system.

Thanks.

With mine - nothing counted  until it’s hooked up online or registered

It will start the day you register the device.

also beware that if the unit you got from dicks is a ball only (I think that’s all dicks sells) it will cost you an extra $1500 to enable ball data if you buy the upgrade within 14 days, or $1750 if you buy the package after your initial 14 days.

It is my understanding that the 14 day trial includes club data, even for a ball only device. A m I wrong here?  dave

Ps. Quoted the wrong response..sorry.

Yes it does. With the ball only unit you can upgrade to club data for $1500 within the trail period. After the trial period is over if you want to upgrade it, then it’s 1750.

I've been a longtime BLP user and am fortunate to have a buddy with a Trackman. Right now, I'm working on building my shot patterns and gapping all my clubs. I wanted to share some data that I think will help us all better understand accuracy and margins.

The Setup

I'm hitting indoors on a 3-foot Fiberbuilt Grass Panel. For accuracy, I'm using the 2023 Titleist Pro V1 RCT ball. To ensure proper alignment, I use a tape measure and laser, getting everything as precise as possible—though there may be up to a 0.5° variance. I also use the Trackman camera to align with the alignment rod, making this process tedious but necessary for an accurate comparison.

Since I'm indoors, my setup includes:

  • 7 feet from the Trackman to the ball
  • 11 feet from the ball to the screen

For irons, this should provide accurate readings.

IMG_5308.jpg.cb9b056a345cfdb315aadb8ec7dc84ce.jpg

The Process

The process is simple: I hit as many stock shots as possible with each iron. It's February, and since I live in the Midwest, I'm a bit rusty. My goal is to conduct a comprehensive test, hitting a minimum of 50 shots per club and gathering data for every club in my bag. All data is normalized at sea level.

The Outcome

In the image below:

  • Red represents Trackman data
  • Black represents BLP data
  • Differences between the two are shown for each measurement

image.png.5bedd97cfc5cc6c2caaf2addfe2506fb.png

The Good

  • Ball Speed
  • Carry Distance
  • Angle of Attack
  • Spin Rate

With spin rate averaging only ~100 RPMs off and carry distance within 1 yard, I feel confident trusting this data for dialing in my carry distances on the course.

The Consistent

  • Club Speed
  • Launch Angle

Although the numbers don't match exactly (likely due to different measurement methods), they are incredibly consistent:

  • Club speed was consistently off by ~4.5 MPH
  • Launch angle was consistently off by ~2.5°

I’m not sure which is more accurate, but since they're consistently different, it’s easy to adjust accordingly.

The Bad

  • Offline
  • Club Path

While not wildly off, these numbers were inconsistent enough to make it difficult to determine which one to trust.

I was especially curious about club path, as I’ve always felt BLP gave high in-to-out numbers. I know Foresight measures this differently, so I wanted to identify a pattern for adjustment. However, the difference ranged from 2° to 5.5° depending on the swing, making it difficult to trust.

Since I tend to overdraw the ball, I’ve been working on neutralizing my path this year. But without a consistent pattern, I’m not sure how much I can rely on club path data.

The WTF?

  • Spin Axis

This one has me scratching my head. Over 40% of shots registered different curvatures.

Example:

  • Trackman reads my swing as 1° in-to-out with a 1° open face, resulting in a slight push cut that lands 5-10 yards right.
  • BLP, however, might read my path as 5° in-to-out and register a draw that ends up in the same place.

While the shots may end up near each other on the grid, they get there in drastically different ways.

Maybe this was just an off day, but the ball curve indoors is something I need to trust—and right now, I can’t.

What’s Next?

I’m planning a larger test, hitting a minimum of 50 shots per club from 60° wedge to 3-iron. This will likely take me a week or two since I want to ensure fresh, high-quality swings rather than fatigued ones.

This is so great.

Thank you.

Is there a quick and dirty alternative to Bushnell Club Stickers? Can you use something like white tape or maybe paint?

Thanks.

I order the cheap reflective dots off Amazon.

I have a new BLP (ball only) and a not yet initiated free trial. But I have no club stickers (didn't have any when I opened the box). I had hoped for a solution using "stuff on hand" so I could get started for real (I don't want to start my free trial until I can use the whole thing). But looks like no-go on that, so I placed my Amazon order earlier this evening. Gotta be patient.

Maybe someone can explain this. I own a new ball only BLP but don't have club stickers (I have ordered some from Amazon and have gotten NO response from customer support people - just a response from their computers). I don't want to start my free trial (which means that I cannot register my device) until I have my stickers from somebody.

So I have done a ton of research which all says that there is no Android support for my BLP  device. However..

  • I have the Foresight app installed on my Android tablet and I have a FSX Live account
  • I have my BLP connected to the app (and I was informed that that I don't have a sub and was offered paths to buy/register one). I was also offered (from the Android app) the chance to join some league (this was presented to me on the Android app).
  • I have started a session on the app
  • I have selected a club on the app
  • I hit a ball that the BLP detected but nothing showed up on the app

What is significant here is that (it would seem) that I can get 'yards offline' on an Android device. THis is critical information to me and if it was available without a subscription, that might change my long term plans. My questions are

1) If I had a Gold or Trial subscription would I see the offline information (and all the other information) from the app (see pic below). The app implies that I don't need a sub to make a session work, but ...

2) I was offered (from the Android app interface) a path to buy a Awesome Golf sub. Would this then actually work on my Android device? I assume that I would also need but Gold Sub, but? There is nothing that I see in the app that says that I need that and nothing says that it wouldn't work on Android, but ...

Can anyone clarify here and is there a better path to Foresight support vs. using their "Support" QR code to open a browser window and typing in your issue/question? My success so far is not promising (no non-automated response from my submission last Friday - today is Tuesday).

Thanks.

Maybe you can get a firmware download plug into PC with USB and see if your computer recognizes it. Maybe a dumb idea but plug in "power on" and see if PC picks it up might be able to reinstall an older firmware. I may even have one would have to check

I’ll try this

I I tried to update firmware and it downloaded but didn’t install the latest

Then at power up it wanted a battery calibration.

I left it on to drain and went to bed with it unplugged

It was empty in the am, has been plugged in for 36 hours and won’t turn on

Are they durable? Or durable enough. I honestly don't want to buy the more expensive ones but I will say the ones I got with the BLP (when they used to be included) have lasted a loooooooooooooong time. Some of my stickers have been on my clubs for 2 years without needing replaced. Curious if the cheap ones last.

That's a great question.  I literally just got the package a couple days ago and have only tried one and it seems to be fine but I will report back.

Knock on wood I updated mine and haven’t had any battery issues or anything like that. Regarding the reflective dots off Amazon they are very serviceable from a durability standpoint.

o perform a hard reset on a Foresight GC3, power off the device, unplug the power supply, wait for a minute, then plug it back in and power it on again; if the issue persists, repeat this process a couple of times; this is essentially a power cycle and is considered a hard reset for the GC3.

Key points to remember:
  • Power cycle:
The primary method for a hard reset on a GC3 is simply turning it off completely by unplugging the power source, waiting a short period, and then plugging it back in to restart.

@secfincorp thanks for posting this. While the Foresight web site has a good bit of information, the BLP/GC3 User Manual is incredibly incomplete. For example the ONLY reference to Bluetooth in the manual is a statement that it will be disabled if you don't reconnect every 45 days. So trying to find information (like what you just posted) is something of an Easter Egg hunt.
