Cobra 2022 Plans

I'm not sure this release is going to go well for cobra. I've been told the pga superstores in illinois are not expecting much of anything until Feb which isn't good if that's the case. I guess they were expecting stuff yesterday but nothing showed up, now told February. That was one employee I asked and he responded probably February now at the earliest. I heard some people have placed orders and told mid/late summer. I plan on buying the new forged tec but want to get fit properly so I hope they keep some decent no upcharge options available and not like the ltdx irons that only have a few stock options vs numerous on previous releases. Hopefully I'm wrong and they can get the driver in people's hands to try soon.

These were the 2 color choices but I didn’t see this until I looked on my iPad that the blue is also a blue finish on top.  I thought it was the standard black on top with just some blue accents on the bottom from my phone.  Now this def makes me want to go with the black, even though I don’t like the bottom color scheme.  Wish they would have kept the blue color on the bottom but kept it black matte on the top.

The peacoat colour option is also available on all the new cobra stuff in Australia too which I'm pretty happy about

I’d have to agree with you. Only problem is my XB with the matte Peacoat scratched really easily.

I usually baby my stuff and was surprised. Hopefully the matte finish on these are a little more durable or I just got a really sensitive head. Never had an issue with the Peacoat in the fairway but the driver did

Alright, just my .02 here…

 

Swing averages 108 SS, 2700 +/- spin, 157-162 ball.

 

Anyway, I stopped by my local PGA on Wednesday night. Had a chance to hit the Stealth and +, side by side with my Sim 2. Long story short, I saw almost no difference between the two. Ball speed was up a tick, about .7 mph on average. I was able to put the shaft I play in both (Hulk), and there was nothing of note to me. Someone else’s mileage may vary. I will say, I feel like the + feels and sounds better to my ear. However, for me, was spinning a LOT higher than I’m used to. Routinely around 3000

 

I also hit the new Cally stuff, Rogue and Triple Diamond are legit. Saw appreciable gains with those, about 3mph ball speed and virtually identical spin. They’re a contender, or were at least, until today…

 

My regular doubles partner is the Manager at one of my local Golf Galaxy’s, and he called me last night and said “I found your forever driver”. Knowing stock shafts wouldn’t be ideal for me, I asked if I could use his Hulk (as he’s a Cobra guy) when I came in and that’s my preferred shaft. Interest peaked, I swung by today and had a chance to hit the LTDx and LS. Holy Balls!

 

I saw a fair amount of lower spin with the LTDx than my sim2, about 250-300 +/- consistently. Ball speed was up as well, about the same as Rogue TD. Then I loaded up the LTDxLS. Wowza…. Spin dropped dramatically. Consistently around 400-425rpm less. Every shot. And ball speed was up about 1mph from the LTDx. So, 4mph ball speed gain, consistently. And about 400rpm less on virtually every swing. I was shocked. After about 25 swings, I was sold.

 

In person, to my ear, they sound almost identical to the TS4 (which I loved, until it was stolen). The feel is very good too. Not firm, not soft. Just right. The profile, to my eye is about perfect. LS seems to sit a hair open at address, and X pretty much square. Both look great and if I didn’t know before swinging it which one it was, telling them apart would be hard.

 

Needless to say, I’ll be gaming the LTDxLS as soon as I can get my grubby hands on one. I hope Cobra can get them out in a timely manner. Because they’re probably better than about everything out there, at least for me.

@PT1911posted in a Cobra thread in the Tour section he ordered directly and received an email his has shipped. Confirmed through local guy that ordered mine it’ll ship mid February. Who knows.

I believe folks have said the x has a shallower face than the litdixels. Is that noticeable? That's the one thing I'll miss about OG sim.

Seems the new cobra drivers have the similar tech from all the drivers out there combined into 1 which I like. Not getting into who made what first but essentially has 

TM twist face

TM inertia generator

TM sim 2 chassis  

Callaway Ai face

Ping weight low and deep

Just went to Edwin Watts and tried all the drivers. They said they still don't have the Cobra and even though they expect the demos in a week or so, they don't expect club orders to come in until around late april due to all the demand. 

 

Side note. Tried the stealth, new rogue st, and the G425 and the 425 was by far the best for me.

Talked to Cobra today. Don’t expect any to be shipped before PAR date.  Orders placed today are getting quoted 3-4 weeks.

I was able to try the cobra fairways today... wow. The LTDx 3 wood is beautiful in person, shape and color wise. Felt pretty good off the face, a nice full feeling unlike the light/empty feeling of TM fairways that I hate. The LTDx was launching pretty well, even though the stock shaft in was a Hzrdus smoke green. Carrying 240ish off the deck with decent to low spin. I could prob pick up some carry yards with a better fitting shaft, but regardless I was sold on the spot and I will be placing a preorder tomorrow. Tsi2 and sim2 fairways will be out of the bag.
