Food on the course

What do you eat while walking an 18 hole round? What do you eat while riding an 18 hole round??

Do you pack a cooler and smuggle some food on the course?

Nothing special. Depends on the day. If it hot, lots of water. If it the afternoon a beer at the turn. Nothing planned out.

Mostly healthy and unhealthy snacks. Water, PB crackers, trail mix, jerky, snickers, fig bar...

 

I try not to do a sugary drink unless I am feeling a bonk coming on..

Gatorade and water for hydration. At least 60 oz. More if it's really hot

Clif or Kind energy bar at the turn.

In the morning I cut up an apple, or pear, or peach and take that to the course to eat during a morning round. If I am playing during lunch time I will make  a peanut butter and honey sandwich and add that to the small cooler with the fruit.

I got paired with a guy once who busted out cold fried chicken from the night before.  It was the oddest thing I've seen someone eat on the course.

Water and usually some cashews.  Sometimes a soda if it's cool out and I want the caffeine.

Guy I played with once was eating cottage cheese at the turn.

Mostly water water and granola/energy bars. Every once in a while I will make a peanut butter sandwich. I don’t know why because I rarely ever have one at home but it tastes so good on the golf course.

Oddly enough I play in a scramble every year that is to benefit a church youth summer camp. Before my time there was an old lady that would fry a couple of chickens and cook biscuits. She would ride around in a cart and pass out food. One of my buddies now plays in the tournament and feeds our group chicken and biscuits. Nothing like swinging a club with chicken grease on your hands.

 

I don't eat anything at a morning round because we can make it around in 2:45. If I play around lunch time at a course near my house, I have a chicken salad sandwich. There is an older guy that works the grill and makes the best chicken salad. He sees me coming and just says, "Are you ready for one?"

Just sip on a coffee. Can’t remember the last time I worked 40 hours, usually 60 and up. So I like to rent a cart, enjoy the ride, and sip on a coffee while playing.

Unless i'm playing in an event that's gonna be 5-6 hours i'll rarely eat on the course.

 

But i've played in some tourneys that had super long rounds, and in that case i might grab whatever is available after 9....sandwich, snickers bar whatever

Try to hit the course with at least waters and gatorade in the bag, and some sort of carb--recently it's been goldfish crackers that need to get consumed because we're between school years so the kids haven't been eating them during the summer. 

 

By the back nine, beer. Depending on the situation it's legitimately purchased from the course or smuggled on. But usually I try to book a tee time between 8 and 9 AM, so drinking beer any earlier than the turn* is gauche.

 

 * By "turn" I mean no earlier than the 8th tee 😉

A cpl of my buddies once brought fettuccini alfredo to a round of golf never understood why but they did.

Water, Mich Ultras, beef jerky, almonds, and cheese crackers usually.  Some combo of all those items.

I do the same thing Mark Wahlberg does. My personal chef follows me around the course with 2 coolers so I don’t miss any of my 8 meals that day. Gotta hit those macros! 💪🏼🤪
