For the record I don't think the runner should get any exemption into any event, unless you WAGR or tournament resume is appropriate. But that is up to whatever tournament to make that decision, I just don't think that 1st loser should be rewarded with similar perks to the winner ie exemption into The Masters and United States Open (y'all can save me the history on Augusta National Golf Club and Bobby Jones amateur status)

Masters yes. US Open, was an invite unless they have changed it. I'm assuming they haven't.

Like you I recorded it & even added an extra hour. But that did me no good when they decided to move to a different channel after 34 holes. Didn't NBC learn anything (53 years ago!) when they decided to terminate an NFL game (with a minute left) and show Heidi. Two touchdowns in that last minute that no one saw!

 

On a positive note I like Bones' commentary and Justin Leonard does a good job.

TV coverage for any golf that isn’t PGA TOUR is like a scavenger hunt. I know it’s out there, but I just can’t find it.

Caught some in the UK last night. Coverage wise it was just whatever was being shown in America with the bizarre exception that every time they went to a feature in between shots, they cut the sound. No idea why?!

 

Watching it just made me more annoyed that they don’t have more matchplay events on Tour. I know all the negatives ad nauseam but still, so so much more interesting to watch when you get a good match.

Me too. I recorded it on both freaking channels and it still cut off before the end.  I still don’t know who won.

I switched to YouTubeTV a few years ago, and while their menu system isn't perfect it does prevent the issue a lot of you guys are complaining about. 

 

It uses a hint of YouTube's predictive algo to use your recent viewing pattern to suggest things that you might want to watch. So if you watched golf last weekend, and there's golf on this weekend, it will have whatever golf is on TV highlighted on the home screen. So whether the action is on NBC, the Golf Channel, NBCSN or wherever doesn't really matter. The content will say "U.S. Am Final Round" and if you click on that it takes you to the channel where it's happening. Pretty easy. 

 

It also lets you rewind that content to an extent, and you can view it On Demand for several days even if you didn't consciously choose to record it.

It took me a few minutes & channel surfing to figure out what the heck happened to the TV coverage on the last two holes, but managed to finally find coverage on Golfchannel.com.  So glad I got to see the  final hole & Piot's win.  The boy just would not give up.  Congrats to him, he's been there a couple times and made this one count.  Hard loss for Greaser & his family, but I suspect he'll be there again.

I did miss it. Still haven’t seen the last hole.  It’s the curse of being me I guess. Don’t always have time to sit and watch. Try to tape it. On 2 freaking channels , and still miss it.  Here’s the gut punch.  I never know until I watch it I have the finish or not.  So you get all lathered up and in it.  And then the tape cuts off.  You cuss out your TV.   Call the cat some names ,   Piss off and go outside to yell at the sky !  Then you quickly just stop and loose interest.  Why ?  It’s all intelligently designed to hook you to a steaming service , or whatever the next thing is.  One day they’ll air a commercial that says “ hey !  Tired of missing the last touchdown of the game ?  Get the xyz real-time streaming cam and watch the team from the airplane to the showers “!   Just like they once sold us a vcr , and then DVR promising we’d never miss the game.  They were full of shat then , and will always be.  There.  I said it.  🤣

It’s funny, never had a vcr growing up. And don’t have dvr now. Once a game is over, I just can’t get into watching the replay. I’m like…this already happened! Lol.

In 1987 we lived less than a mile from the Augusta National. I managed to get tickets that year for Sunday & was pumped. Didn't have to deal with parking, just walk to the tournament. I planned to follow Larry Mize since I knew him & had played junior golf with him. I programmed the VCR to tape the final round since we were following one group & wanted to be able to see the broadcast when we got home. Got there early, followed a group for the front 9, then went to the practice area & sat a little while until Mize's tee time. Saw ever shot he hit including the hole out on #11 to win. I got home & was all set to rewind the tape & see everything we missed.

 

I had forgotten to turn off the VCR for the timer to turn it back on & record...

On my TV it first was a dang nascar race when it swapped over from the golf channel. Then the am came on , I started recording and left.  Then came back watched the whole thing til the 34th  hole  and Then it ended and broke into the news.  Does any sane person still watch the news ?  I mean I’d rather have my head shaved.   Appreciate the video.  But Ive said my piece and counted to 3.  I shall never see it !  It’s dead to me !  😜

Coverage sucked. NBC starts up on 11 green and then doesn’t show last hole?  Pathetic. 
 

Plus, they kept saying that Greaser was up 3 holes on the back but their graphic showing who was up on each hole and by how much never had Greaser up by three. It had him up by two. I think they made the same mistake earlier in the week for at least one other match.

Greaser was 3 up after 27 holes. Piot won the next 4 holes. The last hole was shown on NBCSN which should not have happened.

Leonard has a tic that I am sure some sort of media advisor advised him to work into his delivery. I won't mention it because once you hear it it can't be unheard and is borderline infuriating. He does it basically in every sentence and drives me nuts.

Thank you for confirming.  That's what the announcers were saying.  Too bad the folks in the truck doing the graphic never got the message that Greaser was up by three and none of the producers caught the error any of the several times that they showed the graphic.
