Fall/Winter Golf - Best Deals?

Hi Everyone,

 

Now with fall/winter rolling around, what are some of the best passed/deals out there to save a few bucks? 

 

Heard of Arcis and Troon card but wanted some opinions of members here to see if they're worth it. 

 

Trying to look for some tee times near the end of Oct. and these prices are pretty steep.

Likely everything else in life, depends on budget and location.  For my money, the City of Phoenix card is the best deal around with significantly reduced rates at Papago, GCU, and Aguila, especially if you want to walk. 

 

Beyond that, it comes down to personal preference.  If you want to play a bunch of higher end courses, Troon Card is probably the way to go. 2-for-1 deals can only be booked a couple days in advance.  Grayhawk WhiteTee and We Ko Pass both provide great benefits to high end courses, but I think it is tough to get tee times during peak season.  I guess if there is a particular course you really like, then the loyalty cards will pay for itself.  Places like Legacy, Raven, Longbow, Dobson Ranch, McCormick come to mind.

Over the last 5 years, the loyalty card business has worsened for locals in my opinion.  For example, We Ko Pa is now $139 peak winter rates, when it was just north of a $100 not long ago.   Grayhawk White Tee has gone up in price significantly.  But it seems like the cards get bought up and sold out in some instances.

 

One final factor is flexibility.  If you are okay with booking a last minute time for a single or can play more during the week, these cards provide pretty good benefits.  But if you want a consistent foursome on a weekend, the value starts to seriously decline.

Thanks for that detailed response. Unfortunately I work a regular 8-5 so I can only play on the weekends and on somewhat of a budget (would rather not pay $150 for a round). 

 

I guess I fall into the category of wanting a 3-4some on a weekend so pretty restricted with these cards. 

 

Will look at the City of Phoenix card, didn't know about that one.

what about the south mountain trail pass at Legacy?  you get a 14 day booking window at least though I don't know what rates you get on the weekend with the card compared to regular rates.  It says up to 50% off but the words "up to" make me cautious.

If you play there a bunch, it probably makes good sense.  I'd guess high rate would be around $75 in the peak winter with the card, but just an educated guess.

I think I was reading from 2021. ‘22 is not out yet.

Played Rancho mañana today. CPO but course is in very good  shape, including the greens. Beautiful course, imho.

Hey guys - new to the area.  This is my fist “season”.  So what is a typical White Tee card rate at Grayhawk?  How much of a discount?

 

And what is a typical Troon Card rate in the winter at Troon North?

WT is 40-60% off rack rate. Troon Card all their prices are online
