Looking for opinions from the wrx gear heads

Hello, and thanks for looking at my thread. I appreciate all the responses and help! I am trying to see if you guys can help with a bag set up question.

 

I currently have ping g25 hybrids in 23/27/31. I am in love with them. I also have Srixon 765 irons 4i-gw at the house. In the bag I’ve had the hybrids and irons 7-gw. I’d like to get the 7 iron out my bag if possible. The stock specs on my 765 irons are 7i 32/8i 36/9i 41/pw 46/gw 51. I am thinking of having the 8i bent stronger and subsequently having the rest of the bag bent to fill the gaps. It would be 8i 34/9i 39/pw 45/gw 51/lw 57 is the gapping I am considering.

 

Right now I hit the 31 hybrid about 155-160 and the 765 8i 135-140. I think bending it 2 degrees stronger would get my closer to 145-150. If so would this seem reasonable?

G25s highest loft is 31 or I’d be picking up at 35* hybrid as well. My 7i is very hit and miss, I’d like to get it out of the bag if possible. Long and really even middle irons and I don’t mix well.

I think bending the 8 iron 2 deg. will only get 5 yards additional distance.

 

I have a 17-18 yard gap between my 25 deg. 4 iron and my 7 wood and have just figured I can manage it by choking down no more than a 1/2 inch to take off 5 yards.

See if you can find an Adams Tech V4 7hybrid. I love mine.

Something like that, launcher xl turbo, or a super game improvement style 7 iron makes more sense to me then tweaking lofts to make it work.  
be careful if you do decide to just buy a 7 hybrid as most of them are probably 31 degrees like you already have.  You may need an 8 hybrid to gap properly.  I think there is a maverick max 8 hybrid that would fit the bill.

Reasonable-yes but I still think you'll be on the short side of the 145-150 gap you're wanting....hybrid length vs 8i length.....7i will give you another half inch length

what is your club speed?

 

Not trying to be a jerk in the least bit, but is the reason you hit your 8i that short just being older with a slow swing speed or are we talking swing flaw issues?

 

If its simply a swing speed thing I would go hybrid so you can get the launch you want. If its the other................

I wish I could blame it on age. I’m 32 so that’s not it. My swing is far from “good” but I get the club square most of the time. Last I had my swing speed checked it was about 103 with a driver, but I don’t know how accurate that is. I think I carry it around 230 on solid hits. 31 degree hybrid was great from about 160 today.   

my distances for carry are about the following for reference

3 wood 215? (I don’t hit it much)

19* 5 wood 200

23* hybrid 180-185

27* hybrid 165-170

31* hybrid 155-160

7i 145-150

8i 135-140

9i 125-130

pw 110-115

Full gw is about 100 yards

full Lob wedge 11 feet.

We are quite close yardage wise...my 6i 29.5* is my 155 club

 

I just don't think a strong 8i gaining that much...especially covering that distance gap with our ss

 

I'd go 34* 7i 39* 8i etc -gives you the extra 1/2" in length using 7i instead of 8i - 34* 7i at length will cover your gap to the 31* hybrid

With your lower swing speed I wouldn't strengthen lofts on anything. You need launch angle. I would go hybrid or a game improvement iron.
