Obviously good to see him appearing to not having to use a cane or crutch and be weight bearing BUT if his ankle was as bad as reports said, might he still need an ankle surgery or replacement?

 

Like rehab the leg then when it’s recovered we’ll fix your ankle?

most likely no.

 

if he still needed additional surgery on the ankle they would have done it already.

 

He’s in the rehab phase, which can take months to years.

 

his ankle was bad but not unheard of. 
 

it will just take time to heal and he might only regain 80-90% of previous strength/mobility.

Tiger doesn't have to play again to be the best ever, just like Tyson didn't have to fight again to be the best ever. Anyone with a working set of eyes knew what they were seeing.

Thanks for your reply.  I honestly didn’t or don’t know and wondered, I’m not a doctor or orthopedic surgeon but having had to do rehab for a knee replacement I just wondered.

Question is which Tiger will be getting? The one who contended at 2 majors in 2018 and won 3 tournaments including the Masters in the span of 13 months? Or 2020 Tiger.

As good as Tiger was in 2018-19, he was equally as uninspiring post Masters (except ZOZO and the Presidents Cup obviously) and 2020 post-covid was probably the worst I've seen him play since he came back from the fusion. 

 

In fact here were all his finishes post 2019 Masters.

Memorial

US Open 

British Open (don't go there)

Playoffs (if he qualifies)
ZOZO

Hero World Challenge

PNC 

Bonus: Ryder Cup/Presidents Cup if he's good enough to make it

That's 16 tournaments total including team events, the World Challenge, Father/Son, team events. I don't know if Tiger post accident will even be a top 100 golfer in the world. I do believe his best chance to contend at a major will be at the Masters or an Open Championship that has conditions similar to this year. I think if Tiger played like he did in 2020 he would've struggled at Kiawah, Torrey is a toss up 4 rounds on the South Course would've been hard on the back. I think he would've definitely contended at Augusta in the firm and fast conditions. Not sure about RSG. This years Open was probably had easiest conditions of any non-St Andrews major that I remember. No wind whatsoever and soft greens.
