Epic max ls vs epic max

Has any mid handicapper tried the epic max ls. I’m looking to get the max but I believe the ls may fit me. I know I should and will go test them out, just trying to get a sense of what others say. It’s very confusing between the max and max ls. Thanks.

I got fitted to the Epic Max LS and have a Hzrdus Smoke 6.0 shaft in it. Didn’t try the Max, but really like the LS so far!

 

It’s got excellent adjustability in the head, has a great weight to it, and a large sweetspot and forgiving face. I’ve been having major Driver issues this year after mistakenly selling my Callaway Rogue at the end of last season, and have tried the SIM Max D, Mavrik, SIM Max, and 2 different Rogue heads this year…of all of them, the Max LS has been the best performer for me, and I’ll be sticking with it into next season for sure while I get my Driver swing issues figured out.

Less to do with your handicap vs spin you generate.  If your swing would benefit from a lower spinning head then the LS is your ticket.  The LS is also more neutral bias than the max which has a slight draw bias. If you need a little more spin (and or slower swing speed) and don't fight hooks, the Max is super forgiving.  Nothing better than getting properly fit, but this is a generic summary of results I have experienced with these 2 heads.

Thanks for the info. I was looking at the max ls but I don’t see the hzrdus smoke green as a stock shaft option. They are only putting the mmt shaft as the only option. Secondly how did you mistakenly sell your driver lol.

I do want to and will get properly fit I just want to have the right idea going in. I already play a little fade but I generate spin numbers in the mid 3000s (backspin).

Yeah, the Hzrdus Smoke 6.0 is the stock shaft in the Epic Max, but luckily was able to get the guys at the local shop to let me switch it into the Max LS when I bought it. Much better fit for me than the MMT.

 

What I mean by mistakenly is that I shouldn’t have sold the Rogue. I hit it great all of last season, but sold it to chase a little more distance and something that would eliminate my occasional right miss…unfortunately it’s been disastrous results ever since, Lol!

 

That being said, I’m starting to get back in a groove with the Max LS in my hands, so won’t make the same mistake of giving it up too soon.

That is why I always keep my older driver till the new one earns the bag. I believe that shaft will fit me better as well so hopefully I have luck like you and can get them to swap it out. Thanks

Yup, keeping the old club until the new one proves to be better is definitely the way to go!

These are both outstanding heads.  I own both, and have played both extensively this season.  Epic Max is definitely more forgiving, has more draw bias and IMHO sounds and feels better.  Max LS is still forgiving but not quite the Max, is more fade biased, and has an odd sound to it like a tink.  All-in-all, both are great and worth a look, but the Epic Max works better for me and my game.  9* Max works great for me, while I have the 10.5* in the Max LS.  YMMV.

Thank you for your input. I’m going to go with the max. I have played taylomade drivers so I know good sounding drivers are important as well as the feel. I play a baby fade so the ls can maybe hurt me even more with the fade bias.

If you go to the Callaway site you can click on the custom option and order the smoke green. 5-7 day delivery with a 10.5 head, 1-2 weeks for a 9 degree head.
